SoCo's Budget[edit]

It's the largest in comparison to...?

As a current student who has served on the Finance Committee of Hendrix's student senate for the past two years, the budget does vary from year to year, depending on enrollment and current status of the organization. SoCo's budget is the largest than any other student-led organization on campus. 6 March 2006

National Register of Historic Places[edit]

While it's true that Hendrix has three buildings on he National Register of Historic Places, I don't agree with the article. Buhler and Trieshman are old, but I don't think they've been added. A search on the NRoHP's website listed Ellis, Galloway, and Martin (the latter two are residence halls). Ellis is listed on the Register as "President's House," probably because it was originally the home of the college's president before being renamed and used for admission and financial aid.

So the listing should show Martin, Galloway, and Ellis as registered, rather than Ellis, Buhler and Trieshman.

Princeton Review/Gay-Friendly Status[edit]

Should there be some mention that The Princeton Review ranks Hendrix College 8th in the nation for colleges with very little discrimination against homosexuals?

I can't find a way to format footnotes in Wikpedia (and am too tired to further research it) but here's a stable link (from google's cache) to A press release that backs up the 40% study abroad figure. I used a cached version because Hendrix has been heavily rearranging and reformatting their site lately, and older things have a way of disappearing.

That's kind of cool.. even if I think "the shield" was an expensive design misstep. A (non-Hendrix) friend pointed out a similar logo outside the bus manufacturing plant on I-40 and innocently asked if that's where we got it from. I wanted to cry. My personal vote would have been for "the warriors" to have been represented by a squirrel dressed as a Roman centurion. "Flying Squirrels" was a brilliant name for the Ultimate Frisbee team, IMHO. I graduated from Hendrix, and I don't recall anyone who thought the logo was a good idea. I can't imagine what kinds of money the school spent on its "graphical identity" crisis, not to mention the Odyssey program, the semester system switch, and the Journeys/Explorations course. In my experience, no one liked Explorations, some people liked Journeys, but most students who took WIT (which was replaced by Journeys) could only laugh at the pathetic replacement. It makes me sick to see the article boasting about all of those silly things as if they were actually something to be proud of. Ole Wilbur[edit]

So we all know about the Fanne Foxe scandal. But is it true that Mills was actually "in the fountain" with the young lady? I've heard that this is actually a bit of an exaggeration. The Fanne Foxe article seems ot say otherwise. We should probably bring the Hendrix article in line with it, unless someone has concrete proof that the two actualy were splashing about. (Note that I'm not denying any other part of the story--just the idea that Mills was in the fountain as well).Ckamaeleon 01:06, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Faculty[edit]

Published in nationally acclaimed publications or in specific positions on campus. (Dr. McDaniel for example is the head of the Steele Center, Dr. Vernon regularly contributes to the NYT, Flannery was at Harvard last year etc.)

I'm not really seeing much forward momentum on this subject. Two new red links today... that's nice. How about we require WP:PROF or WP:N before inclusion? Any thoughts out there? -- Ben 21:44, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think Notable Faculty should be included in this article because of an obvious lack of information. It would be different if anyone had anything in particular to say about the faculty, but this is not the case. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Astrife (talk • contribs)

Administration under fire for treatment of black students?[edit]

Can anything specifically be sited in regards to the school mistreating black students that is mentioned in the arcle. The percentage of minority students is admittedly low, but I have never heard of any discrimination whatsoever, and would be appalled and suprised if I did hear anything of the sort. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.149.25.105 (talk) 22:38, 14 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]


Lots of stuff in the student run newspaper. theprofileonline.com if you want to find back issues.

I found one article pertaining to it, and nothing else. The article says there have been reports of discrimination among the student body and that the administration was taking steps to see if there was actually a problem. There were no other articles after that.
