I saw this in my local paper and thought it would be interesting addition to the encyclopedia.WHEELER 19:19, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Edit notes.[edit]

Was doing some research on the Black Panthers and saw this page... the first edit was fairly substantial, the second quite minor (thought I forgot to tag it as such). Could definitely still use expansion, but I'm not sure there's much else out there on these guys.

Censorship in Wikipedia[edit]

Please stop censoring the word fuck in the 10-point program. Wikipedia is not censored, especially in quoted material. After repeated attempts to remove the censorship, I am forced to ask here that a more regular editor see to it as I am consistently accused of vandalism. 141.132.131.110 (talk) 01:42, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've fixed the entire 10-point program, which was garbled and incomplete. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 02:49, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Related Groups[edit]

I have removed the statement that Dianne Feinstein had members of the white panthers jailed as this was not supported by reference and constitutes an unverified allegation. I am happy to have it re-added if evidence that she was in some manner responsible for their being jailed is provided. Otherwise the fact that they were jailed is enough information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.33.217.70 (talk) 13:22, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, the White Panthers were a peaceful group who still believe in racial equality, ridding corruption from our own government, & protecting the right to protect themselves under the constitution, so if that is your idea of being far-left then you must think Facsism, Nazism, & Jim Crow were all ideal ways of life!!!!!!

Also no White Panthers were ever convicted of any violent crimes such as destroying any government buildings, so including that in your discription of the civil rights group which had a terrific sense of humor is nothing more than attempting to purposely mislead the readers. They may have been accused but there was never any evidence so no convictions ever happened, & those are the facts.

Plus John Sinclair was sentenced to 10 years in state prison for smoking only 2 marijuana cigarettes with an undercover federal officer, but the case would have been thrown out of federal court so it was rammed through Michigan's state court in hopes to keep the story localized & keep John Sinclair a prisoner for political reasons only. - Source- any newsppaper article during that time.

Also Pun Plamundon was never convicted of any bombing of any building, just as no White Panthers were ever convicted either, but was all fictionalized in Hoover's CO-INTEL PROGRAM at Nixon's direct orders. In fact, according the Abbie Hoffma's book - WOODSTOCK: A Talk Rock Album, Pun was traveling with John Sinclair's sister & one of her girlfriends to Woodstock & were followed the whole time to & during Woodstock & were traveling home from Woodstock when they were followed & pulled over for a targeted random search, which found only one single marijuana cigarette which could have been easily planted because it could have easily been eaten or hidden by any of the 3 people in the vehicle & thus never really found, just after crossing New Jersey state lines & was federally charged with conspiring to transport one single marijuana cigarette accross state lines which made it a federal crime & they were seeking to lock him up for 20 years.

Also the group never disbanded & several members are still around today still fighting the hatred, racism, & straight out lies & corruption that are still found so freely within the Republican Party. Nixon may be gone now, but you better believe that the Republican Party is still corrupt as ever!!!!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.79.44.172 (talk) 18:06, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ironic?[edit]

Was it serious or ironic by Huey Newton that white Americans should found a "White Panther Party"? --Exodianecross (talk) 04:10, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Exodianecross. I have been unable to find any reliable source describing Huey Newton saying that before the White Pathers were founded, and have a hunch it may be apocryphal. I was a young white radical in Detroit in those years. Though I never was a member of the White Panthers, I cooperated with them, attended many events they sponsored and visited their Ann Arbor communes several times. I also attended several Black Panther events in those years, and sold newspapers published by both groups at a record store I co-owned. I seem to recall Huey Newton saying that whites should found their own revolutionary groups instead of trying to join the Black Panthers. The Black Panthers were not "anti white", like many black nationalist groups of the era who shunned whites. The Black Panthers welcomed white support and entered into alliances with white groups. White radicals were welcome at their public events. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:13, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
