Ratings[edit]

0.1 is not the lowest possible rating one can get. John McEnroe got a 0.0 when he started his show. Donahue's MSNBC ratings confusion[edit]

This article makes the following statements:

  • In late August 2002, it got one of the lowest possible Nielsen ratings (0.1)
  • The show was so popular that it became MSNBC's top-rated show.

These two tidbits seem to subtly imply mutually contradictory conclusions without explicitly stating them. So what is the full story? Were the ratings in August 2002 representative of its ratings up until its cancellation? How were these ratings when compared with the typical hour on MSNBC, or other programs like Jesse Ventura's program or Joe Scarborough's program? -- Bletch 17:30, Sep 28, 2004 (UTC)

Did Phil Donahue's mom write this article? NCSU speech[edit]

Somebody should mention his NCSU commencement speech, Take a Liberal to Lunch which had wide press in, I think, 2003 - he was booed off the stage, and the speech created a controversy for the administration of the school at the time.--24.176.68.73 14:28, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Still Catholic[edit]

Upon reading the New York Times article, mentioned above, in no way does this article make the assertion that Phil Donahue is still a Catholic. It only mentions his disdain for the annulment process. Mr.Donahue has admitted he is not a practicing Catholic, and during his television show's heydays, he routinely mocked Christianity in general, and showed complete contempt for the Catholic Church. Donahue since O'Reilly??[edit]

The most recent Donahue event this article mentions is his appearance on the O'Reilly Factor in 2005. In that interview Donahue seemed quite committed to the anti-war effort. Has he been completely silent ever since, or does this article need updating? M. Frederick 00:59, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Oprah Citation[edit]

The citation given for the line, "Oprah Winfrey said "if it weren't for Phil Donahue, there never would have been an Oprah show." is http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Phil-Donahue-First-Time-Video. If you actually listen to the video, Oprah says no such thing. Yes, that text appears on the page, underneath the video - but no matter where it appears, it's completely unsupported by the video.
