Birthplace[edit]

As noted in a previous footnote, Fleischer's Twitter bio as of 1 April 2020 states that Wikipedia has his birthplace wrong. I found a birth record in a database at Ancestry.com that indicates he was born in Staten Island (Richmond County) NY on 13 Oct 1960, which would suggest this is the Ari Fleischer who is the subject of the article (one would have to obtain a copy of the actual certificate for confirmation).11 Arlington (talk) 05:49, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gaelan Thank you. Staten Island is considered a borough of NYC. FWIW, while Ancestry may be unreliable as far as the personal family trees people put up, the database I accessed was "New York, New York, Birth Index, 1910-1965," which comes from the New York City Department of Health via www.vitalsearch-worldwide.com. It contains only the child's name, birth date, borough, and certificate number, so on its own may not meet the standard of proof, but it's a good clue. Consulting for Green Bay Packers[edit]

No, not in my opinion. It just sounds softer because 'ish' sounds like an adjective to the English speaker. And the fact should not be downplayed lest it appear we are concealing it (usually I would say there's no reason to conceal at all but given US-Israeli policy, his role in it, and the plethora of crackpot theories surrounding Jews and the US, there are reasons to conceal it). rmbh 20:26, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We cannot conclude that Plame was covert[edit]

It cannot be concluded that Plame was an undercover covert agent when Novak named her in his column. On March 23, 2005, every major news organization, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, AP, Newsweek, Reuters, and the White House correspondents, joined to file a friend of the court brief on behalf of Judith Miller and Matthew Cooper. They said:

"To the average observer, much less to the professional intelligence operative, Plame was not given the “deep cover” required of a covert agent. See 50 U.S.C. § 426 (“covert agent” defined). She worked at a desk job at CIA headquarters, where she could be seen traveling to and from, and active at, Langley. She had been residing in Washington – not stationed abroad – for a number of years."[1]

October 28, 2005, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald was asked if Plame was covert and he responded:

"Let me say two things. Number one, I am not speaking to whether or not Valerie Wilson was covert. And anything I say is not intended to say anything beyond this: that she was a CIA officer from January 1st, 2002, forward. I will confirm that her association with the CIA was classified at that time through July 2003. And all I'll say is that, look, we have not made any allegation that Mr. Libby knowingly, intentionally outed a covert agent. We have not charged that. vandalism[edit]

Take a gander at the recent edits--someone keeps struggling with his anti-semitism, wavering between indicting a few jewish folks in parts of the administration, labelling them "jews like wolfowitz, perle...and the rest," as if they're responsible because they're jewish or something. I know the man has had to put his and the President's foot in his mouth on several occasions, but maybe we could make it more NPOV if we could find some that weren't so...juicy and added them to round out the list. Even if they are all copiously documented, it seems like the spirit of a neutral POV would require selecting quotes from a more representative sample. Then again, there's the notability issue. Maybe they should go in wikiquote (I'm still new, so I won't move them unilaterally.) History will certainly peg him for many of those, so it's not a cut-and-dry call. Just my two cents. I hear you. I think the selected quotes are some of the more noteworthy of his tenure (particularly the explicit call for the assassination of a foreign head of state... that was pretty much unprecedented for a White House press secretary). His more controversial quotes seemed most noteworthy, which was why I'd added them. That said, I'd have no objection to more quotes being added in the spirit of rounding things out. Since the man is notable for saying things, the things he said are probably notable too. I'm more interested from a policy standpoint, as I'm trying to figure out some of the subtleties of this thing. Career timeline discrepancy?[edit]

Can anyone explain how Fleischer could be a Senator's press secretary 89-94, then a House committee spokesman for 5 years (taking us to 99) and then "later" work on Bush Sr's re-election campaign in 92?! I think an addition to the (Ari Fleischer) WikiPedia page is needed.

Because I've wondered for years,why Ari Fleischer resigned when He did? Just what is the official excuse/position ?

I recall there was indeed a resignation shown in/on the media,but I often wondered why a guy would resign rite smack in the middle of what would clearly turn out to be a historically significant position no matter what the outcome. I mean, to Me He seemed so Young! & as I recall He only served for about 2 years.

Anyway I came to Wiki to research the topic because like many others around the world I consider Wiki as a viable resource of accurate info & I hate to admit it but I've wondered if maybe just maybe there's another hidden reason for his resignation? After all the term "resignation" covers a very broad stroke.

I removed the section of this article alleging that he had a role advising the Komen Foundation to break their relationship with Planned Parenthood, as it was unsourced and arguably negative.
