Gay Icon Project[edit]

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Flintstones image[edit]

Image of Ann-Margret On NBC In 1976[edit]

I hope people like this 1976 color photograph that I have added to the article. Do you think it's too large ? I believe adding it is necessary because it conveys her sexy, garishly clad image that she had after recovering from the accident but before she stopped dancing. I have permission from the copyright holder. I specified that when I uploaded the image to Wikipedia. To learn more about how I got the photo, read the "Upload Application." Unsourced trivia[edit]

The Trivia section has too many uncited/unsourced items. I have removed one completely: *Oprah Winfrey's head was put on a old picture of Ann-Margret's body on a TV Guide cover, causing a big stir. Sourced non-sense[edit]

The statement that she grew up close to the Arctic Circle is sourced, but still far from the truth. Valsjöbyn is situated at 64.068° N, 14.136° E (sv:Valsjöbyn) but the Arctic Circle is 66.56° N or 276 km further to the north. The statement is relevant as a quote, how she described her upbringing, but not as a geographic fact. Perhaps this distinction could be made more clear. --LA2 20:09, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplace[edit]

The article contradicts itself about her birthplace. When I challenged this I got a response that this is cleary sourced in her autobiography, but I don't see mention of her autobiography in the article. Can someone clarify? PatGallacher (talk) 22:14, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great color photo of her[edit]

If you're a confirmed user, then you can see a great color photo of her that someone deleted from the article in 2008. The current version of the article provides a link to the image even though the image itself isn't visible. Scroll down to the 1970s section and you'll see the link on the left side. If you're a confirmed user, can you please look at it and consider restoring it? I'm not a confirmed user, but I recall distinctly seeing the image in this article two years ago. What copyright issues, if any, were behind the deletion of it? It's a production still from her 1975 NBC television special. The caption says the show aired in 1976. As a devoted fan, I happen to know it was 1975. The first TV special she did after recovering from her accident.

The current version of the article probably will change later today (November 17). If it has changed by the time you read this, please see my version of the article from November 17 and then, if you are confirmed, you can see the great photo. Let's restore it! Edit request on 29 August 2013[edit]

Please change location of birth from Stockholm, to Valsjöbyn. Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, but Ann-Marget was born in the small village Valsjöbyn in the middle of Sweden. DelNabla (talk) 19:13, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Birth place was changed from Valsjöbyn to Stockholm by an anonymous and unsourced edit 19 May 2009. There are already references in the article to sources where her birth place is stated. Roger Smith's death[edit]

As it stands now the article says she was married to Roger Smith 1967 d. 2017, which hints they were divorced in 2017. So I put in "his death" instead of "d." and it was equally awkward. So I reverted. I have seen other Wikipedia articles in which the phrase "his death' or "her death" are used. This Article Needs Re-sourcing[edit]

Suggested addition of photo to 1990s and 2000s section[edit]

Article name first[edit]

It's normal that the article's name comes first in bold type in the first line of the lead. I see no reason to make an exception here. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 13:55, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For biographical articles, I think it's proper, or at least acceptable, to start the lead sentence with the subject's full birth name. See for example Petrarch and Cleopatra which are used as an example in MOS:LEADBIO. Also Madonna, Will Rogers, and Gary Glitter. CodeTalker (talk) 17:23, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stage name and top photo[edit]

I do not agree with this edit when it comes to the removal of her stage name from the lead (not just the bold type but completely removed!) nor the awful unrepresentative photo being placed at the top again (it has been moved from there several times before). What's in the edit summary is not policy per guideline as far as I can find. I do not agree that that is Wikipedia policy as per guideline. Especially not when the only relatively recent photo we have of her looks like the article is about a sweaty, somewhat anxious cocktail hostess in a Las Vegas hotel where the air conditioning went out. That photo, in my opinion, is so inappropriate as a representation of this beautiful and talented actress that it shouldn't even be in here at all. Just because somebody manages to snap an awful photo of a celebrity doesn't mean it should be used.

I agree with @SergeWoodzing (except I think it looks more like a mug shot). It's barely recognizable as the actress. Template:Infobox_person#Image simply says The image in the infobox should be representative of the person who is the subject of the article. and the image in question is hardly representative.
