Nope. I can understand the confusion and/or joke, though. They were what we here in the U.S. call a "boy band". There's always jokes about boy band members being gay over here, probably because sappy love songs (stuff that mentions crying, even. In other words, not exactly the manliest of music) are usually a staple of boy band type groups. I have to wonder why though that the handful of female singing groups (excluding t.A.T.u., whose manager cooked up a gimmick to promote them as a pair of lesbians) never seem to have lesbianism jokes thrown about. I've seen their music videos, especially their solo stuff. Inaccuracy?[edit]

In 2005 the group split up. All of the members went their separate ways and started their own solo careers. It is debated whether O-Zone is the original creator of the song. An Italian man named Haiduci claims the song as his own, as both groups released the song about the same time.

I don't think this is true, since when the woman from Haiduci (yes, Haiduci is NOT a man, or at least, not only) came here in Bulgaria, she clearly stated on a TV show that the song was written by Dan Balan. This should be corrected. --213.91.184.25 22:56, 22 March 2006 (UTC) (Megara)[reply]

Hello, just comment about Haidyci. On the disk MTV hits 2005 there was another Haidychi song - "I need a boyfriend". It is complete copy of the Russian-Ukrainian singer (known as VerkaSerduchka) song. So, it makes me think that MayaHi has been written by O-zone. brozz

What about the numa numa guy?[edit]

The band came into focus and awarness about it increased after a home-made video with their song playing in the background became popular online. Could more information about this be included in the article?

No. The home-made video of an extremely obese individual pretending to be the entire O-Zone band became popular in the U.S. and Canada after thhe actual group became popular in all corners of the world (excluding U.S. and Canada of course). Most of the people who've seen this Numa Numa thing in the U.S. and Canada (I bet you don't even know what 'numa' means) don't know who made the song anyway.Eugeniu B (talk) 02:50, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to agree with the first guy; I'd never heard of them until that video went viral, that & through the explosion of Vocaloids popularity. Metal?[edit]

I heard from I can't remember which forum that O-Zone or at least one of its members plays or used to play metal (I think it was thrash, but I could be wrong). Moldovan[edit]

O-Zone is from Moldova, but sings in Romanian and happens to be launched in Romania. The origin is clearly Moldova. I've fixed the article and infobox Lio (talk) 06:14, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Current members[edit]

I strongly disagree with the way the members section is laid out (although I acknowledge that the guidelines allow former members of a defunct band to be listed as current members in "exceptional circumstances"). The note in the current members section states that the reason for listing the final lineup of the band is to list the final members as separate from members that left beforehand (which also happens to be the "classic lineup" which is the reason for most occurrences such as this), and it goes on to say that to list all the former members in one list is misleading. I'm challenging this assertion as there is nothing misleading about labelling all members of a defunct band as "former members", because there are no current members in a band which does not exist, and if anything it is misleading to have any members in the "current members" section when there are no current members. Furthermore, the infobox is not supposed to separate different lineups, but to present a summation of the facts. A summation of the facts in this case is that there are four former members of O-Zone and no current members. Any additional details can and will be found on the page.

I understand that this discussion page may not be viewed that often. Therefore a fortnight from now if there is still no discussion I shall make the change and change the note to direct people to this discussion topic, where challenges can still be made. Petru Jelihovschi[edit]

This page says that Petru Jelihovschi died in 2012, but the person that added this seems to have based that information on this YouTube video. In the comments section of said video, a commenter says that, "Someone watched this video and thought the singer Petru Jelihovschi had died (but it's just a homonym) and noticed Wikipedia about it." They also say, "It is said on Wikipedia that Petru Jelihovschi from O-Zone had died in 2012, but it is not the same person. The singer is still alive." Both statements are from relatively recently, but a YouTube commenter is not really a reason to remove an unsourced death date. I did a Google search, but couldn't find anything about Petru Jelihovschi being dead, or anything recent about him in general. If anyone can find anything, or knows more, can they respond to this message?

The 2017 reformation[edit]
