Re: combining "PPC" (powered parachute) and PPG "powered paragliding".

These are distinctly different activities with VERY little overlap in participants. It would be like combining windsurfing with sailboating -- they both have hulls and sails but are attract different people and have vastly different skill sets and equipment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paramotor (talkcontribs) 18:26, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: combinging "Paramotor" and "powered paragliding".

Paramotor is the device and powered paragliding (aka paramotoring) is the activity. I think they should remain two different entries.

How about some VidBits?[edit]

Gee, it sure would be cool to see a vidbit or two of this. Got one? To share?

Whats a "Vidbit"?

Altitude[edit]

According the FAI website the Bear Grylls world record has yet to be recognized by the FAI. There is some issue with problems he had with his GPS which froze on the way down(leaving only photographic evidence that the feat was achieved), it takes longer to confirm an altitude record through these means so it may take some time for the FAI to recognize his achievment. So I suggest that we mention the record's current status and include the previous record. I just thought I'd ask what anyone else thought on the matter first as technically Grylls has the record and i wouldn't want to introduce incorrect information.Elmo 11:52, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Elmo. I'm no expert, but I thought an FAI representative needs to be present during the record attempt. I'm pretty sure that for sailplane flights, a representative checks the aircraft and the flight recorder (not just a gps, btw) immediately before and after the flight. I doubt Grylls and his expedition had an FAI representative with them, but the FAI may have granted an acception(?). The flight will probably stand as an unofficial record. Too bad about the everest thing though, he could have gotten the record at home... Lost Cause

tags[edit]

I think this is a nice article but it has places where it needs better footnoting and referencing to avoid the appearance of OR. I've read enough on the subject to know that its not OR and the parts that are referenced are referenced well. I don't know enough about the subject to risk messing it up by a bunch of edits to nonstandard referenced so I think the usual editors would do a better job than I would here.Trilobitealive (talk) 23:52, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why nothing about powered paragliding?[edit]

Duh. It seems typical Wikipediaians think "encyclopedic style," means dry and dusty. Hence all the articles like this.

But it does talk about paragliders, regs, & records, and all that dry dusty copy & paste "factual" stuff. Yippy. Please change the article content or title. Cheers!
