?[edit]

Someone added to the article (since removed) "he is not married & has 2 kids", in contradiction of what the article already said. Seems like maybe the info in the present article is outdated (it says married, one kid) and this was intended as a valid correction. Everyking 01:26, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)

He is either African American or he is Haitian or he is both African and Haitian. The sentence, as it is written, makes no sense. --Lorraine LeBeau 12:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Phil Lynott[edit]

Could someone put something about gary being considered to play phil lynott in a biopic? I would do it but for some reason it won't allow me to alter any pages. I think someone frmo my house has been despicable scum and decided to make hilarious entries to various articles.

Added the info, with a citation to back it up. —Rotring 15:23, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

gary's role[edit]

i heard about gary playing phil lynott but im not sure if it's true

unsourced allegations[edit]

I removed the following statement, as it was unsourced and potentially libelous: "He often shows up late on the CSI set and usually quite impaired due to his strong affinity for smoking Marijuana. This caused such a stir and lapse in production that he was threatened with being fired from the show." - Feb. 1 2007

He is HAITIAN-AMERICAN!!![edit]

He's said so himself and it was in EBONY magazine....I don't see what the problem is. I can't stand it when all blacks in the US are lumped together like that. Rex1932 15:35, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The term Haitian-American would seem to require a citation. Possibly from the Ebony magazine article. Otherwise, he is simply an American based on his birthplace.--TGC55 (talk) 19:59, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse of Photog[edit]

I don't know how to remove the two sources (8 and 9) documenting his attack on a cameraman, but seeing as both use such childish terminology ("douche" and "jerk") as well as expressing their desire that Dourdan be anally violated while someone whispers "oh nancy" in his ear, I strongly suggest they be removed, this seems like nothing more than a personal vendetta. 62.72.110.11 (talk) 16:37, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

3 Felonies Filed[edit]

From the Boston Herald if anyone want to add. Gary Dourdan of “CSI” fame was formally charged with felony drug possession yesterday [May 7, 2008] following his April 28 arrest in Palm Springs, Calif. Three felonies were filed in all, for possession of heroin, cocaine and ecstasy. Dourdan’s arraignment is set for May 28. He faces probation and possibly a drug treatment program, a spokesman for the local district attorney said. The TV criminal scientist is expected to depart the popular CBS show this season. Leaving the show note is incorrect and possibly libelous[edit]

The last line in the first paragraph under the "Career" heading states,"...that Dourdan is leaving the show because of alleged drug abuse." However the reference [3] given does not at all support this statement. Also, this statement directly contradicts the statement from the CSI main page. The link behind the reference [3] (see http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Ausiello-Scoop-Mystery/800037798) discusses a "mole" but still does not verify that Mr. Dourdan's leaving was due to drug use. This statement appears to be unverifiable and possibly libelous and should be removed. I am new to Wikipedia and not sure how to make the change to the main page. Image[edit]

I have an image, it's a screenshot I took. I'm a new user, hence I'm not exactly sure how to upload the images and stuff, so I'm giving the link here hoping that someone who knows how to upload the image etc. can do that.

The screenshot was taken from the Season 8 episode "Cockroaches." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Figurefour (talkcontribs) 12:45, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome figurefour! Your screenshot is of CSI, which is a trademarked show. Wikipedia only uses copyrighted images when its impossible to acquire a free one, in this case its pausible that someone will take a picture of Dourdan and release it ino the public domain (like it happened with Jorja Fox). status of the character of Warrick Brown[edit]

in the finale episode of recent CSI, Warrick Brown was shot on right side of the neck that passed thru left side... does it mean he will be out of CSI future episodes? meaning he will die? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.60.243.107 (talk) 03:08, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main page says presumed dead. Jorja Fox was written out in much the same way (I remember the whole furore well, don't comment on THIS if you don't know what I am on about please) and yet Sara is back in series 9...however, if you see [Sara Sidle]'s page, the line "The character will return for Season 9 when she hears the news about Warrick Brown's death." is ominous with regards to Warrick's survival. Feel free to draw your own conclusions, as that is all we can do until the episodes are aired. We've seen people come back from the dead in the past in a whole heap of shows, and perhaps (for instance) Warrick was aware of who the mole was and it was an elaborate sting to pull him out of hiding and into the spotlight (while wearing a bulletproof vest)...obviously that went hideously wrong, but perhaps he was rushed to hospital directly afterwards. As I said above, that's just conjecture, but until the conclusion is aired there is no answer to the question. 78.86.230.62 (talk) 23:08, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alien[edit]

Was he in Alien Resurrection? It looked like him. 217.205.224.155 (talk) 11:05, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Music[edit]

I just saw him live on French TV singing and playing the guitar. It was pretty cool. He also speaks some French, but with a heavy Haitian accent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.72.92.4 (talk) 19:35, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Race = mixed ancestry??[edit]

I've noticed how the article seems to try really, really hard to avoid any mention of race or ethnicity. Is it just because his clearly African-ancestry hair and his no less clearly European-ancestry vivid green eyes have everyone stumped? Or does Gary himself avoid the topic? Aadieu (talk) 17:31, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dourdan's real name???[edit]

We have it listed as "Gary Dourdan" but according to MSNBC, it is Robert Gary Dourdan. Unless there is a source saying otherwise, we might want to consider moving this article. here's the link to MSNBC---Balloonman NO! I'm Spartacus! 22:05, 6 October 2010 (UTC) Actually, the photo gives him an AKA as Gary Robert Dourdan, so I'm going to update the lede with an AKA.---Balloonman NO! I'm Spartacus! 22:06, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fire?[edit]

I noticed that Redbox is now carrying a movie called Fire starring Dourdan. Anyone have info that could be added to the article? GoingBatty (talk) 02:45, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Source?[edit]

@Dlthewave: what is the source on Dourdan being a descendant, and of what tribal nation? - CorbieV 20:52, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Vanity Fair. The source makes no mention of a specific nation, and none is mentioned in our article. –dlthewave 20:56, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Without a nation named, it can't be verified. So there is no reason to believe they fact-checked. That means it's a self-claim. - CorbieV 20:57, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see now that the source is an interview, so it would indeed be a self-identified claim. I'm not finding any other sources to back it up. –dlthewave 22:00, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Content and image removal[edit]

Based on a report at the edit warring noticeboard I've reverted the repeated restoration of the mug shot as primary image and the section titled "Legal issues" for the following reasons:

  • The image is a BLP violation. Per policy "images of living persons should not be used out of context to present a person in a false or disparaging light. This is particularly important for police booking photographs (mugshots), or situations where the subject did not expect to be photographed."
  • The section titled "Legal issues" was sourced solely to TMZ. The reliability of TMZ is questionable, and therefore discussion regarding its use to support disputed content in the article should be discussed prior to the content being restored. If better sources can be found to support the inclusion of the content in a manner that is not WP:UNDUE, then the information can be included.

I've changed the sources here. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:28, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ponyo seeing as an IP and various other new users refuse to communicate and are repeatedly removing content, would it be worthwhile to protect the article to force communication? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:01, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@HickoryOughtShirt?4: I've partial blocked the IP that was causing most of the disruption from editing the article. I'll watchlist the page to monitor it for further disruption.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:24, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
mug shot is not false or disparaging, hence not a blp violation.--Sdillonripley (talk) 17:48, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it very much is. Did you read the policy? I'm sure you can drum up edits for your image contest without violating one of our core content policies.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:59, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Another poor image[edit]

I removed File:Gary Dourdan Berlin (lightened crop more).jpg from the article as, while free, it falls below the standard expected of images, especially for a BLP. The image is blurry and the subject has their eyes closed and appears to be grimacing. Per MOS:LEAD point 1: "Lead images should be natural and appropriate representations of the topic; they should not only illustrate the topic specifically, but also be the type of image used for similar purposes in high-quality reference works, and therefore what our readers will expect to see." This image is not "the type of image used for similar purposes in high-quality reference works". In addition, MOS:LEAD point 1 states: "Lead images are not required, and not having a lead image may be the best solution if there is no easy representation of the topic". We don't need to use a substandard image just because there is one available and image use is covered by WP:BLP.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 16:40, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
