Graham Mackay[edit]

The owner section of the article information box is factually incorrect. The box incorrectly calls Altria the owner of SABMiller – shares in SABMiller plc are publicly traded in London and Johannesburg and so Altria is one of many shareholders and, with around 27% of the shareholding, does not own a majority. Please refer to page 98 in our Annual Report for the reference: http://sabmiller.com/docs/default-source/investor-documents/reports/2015/ar-2015-pdf-documents/sabmiller2015_Annual_Report%20.pdf?sfvrsn=18

I would like to suggest that the Owner section is removed from the article information box given that SABMiller is not ‘owned’ by any one company.

SABMiller disappears after acquisition by Anheuser-Busch InBev[edit]

I have revised this article but it needs additional work. Some massive changes for the company recently. I do not have time to do it all.

Some of my edits:

...the deal closed on 10 October 2016. The acquisition - subsequently referred to as a merger in the news media - ended the corporate use of the name SABMiller. The new company is called Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV, (AB InBev) and is trading as NewbelcoSABMiller. SABMiller ceased trading on global stock markets.

As part of the agreement with the regulators, SABMiller sold to Molson Coors full ownership of the Miller brand portfolio outside of the U.S. and Puerto Rico for US$12 billion. Molson Coors also retained "the rights to all of the brands currently in the MillerCoors portfolio for the U.S. and Puerto Rico, including Redd’s and import brands such as Peroni, Grolsch and Pilsner Urquell." Tense[edit]

This article is a hot mess of tense, likely due to the merger and disappearance of SABMiller as a distinct entity. It should be decided what the current status of SABMiller is (is it a company that no longer exists, or is it a still-existing part of Anheuser-Busch InBev?), and all verbs in the article should be changed to reflect that. Additionally, if it's decided that SABMiller is still existent, sections should be updated with respect to the divestiture of the MillerCoors brands. I mostly added new content about the two companies merging. I did change some content to past tense, but yes, some other sections need to be changed to past tense.
I am still trying to be certain that SABMiller has totally ceased to exist. It is no longer trading on any stock exchange; that is certain. I believe this is probably correct: Either way, the SA Breweries you knew — the one supposedly founded by Charles Glass in 1894 (his wife Lisa was the actual brewer), and the first industrial share to be listed on the JSE, in 1897 — is no more. SABMiller’s story is one with larger-than-life characters who dominated the business pages for decades, encapsulated in tales of derring-do. It is a tale of a local icon that made good on the international stage.
With the formal takeover on October 10, it came to a frothy end. For the first time in 119 years, reference to SA Breweries was extinguished from the JSE.
