Has the page I created been removed permanently?

[[Sunburst]]

No, its not. [1]If you want to change it back or merge the two you can. --DrBat 22:37, Jun 1, 2005 (UTC)
Ok, I wont change it back, your version looks much better, I'll see if theres anything I can salvage from the prior page worth putting into the new. Thanks- Sunburst

On the Emerald Twilight comment: I removed it because while it is true in the comics that the Guardians frown upon frivolous uses of ring power, this part of the page refers to the animated continuity, which has never shown any examples of what the Emerald Twilight comic storyline refers to. It's a matter of clarity - it doesn't help to mix comic and cartoon continuity any more than the show does itself. - Alex Weitzman

Re: animated design, green eyes. Bruce Timm confirms that these were added for visual interest, and that he and his staff wanted to keep the character maskless, in the Season One dvd featurette "The Look of the League". • merge/nom - The section that was split from original article by an ambitious editor to form a new "Alternate versions" article for all the characters. This section was already limited, and does not need to be split off to form a stub article. It's a detriment to the original article, and at this point the alternate versions article does not need to exist. 66.109.248.114 21:25, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • support remerge - these should have never been split, especially w/o discussion. Characters like Gardner and Stewart were never THE Green Lantern, only A Green Lantern -- 69.182.73.240 05:42, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • support merge -- User:Redhead911 unilaterally created article without discussion with other editors, circumventing the consensus process. --Tenebrae 19:40, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge - As noted above, the characters are not alternate versions Green Lantern, they are other characters who have used the name green lantern. And based on the page's current criteria, it would eventually duplicate Green Lantern. - jc37 21:23, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - As per above. Also, as with most of the resent bold splits (lots of alts and other media), this took what could be seen as a relevant section and made it into what comes close to a "Trivia only" article. - J Greb 22:05, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge - there is no reason for the alternate versions entry as they all (rightly) have their own articles and the main Green Lantern article already holds them all together. (Emperor 22:25, 26 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]
Discussion closed with consensus to merge. 66.109.248.114 23:36, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trinity[edit]

I don't see the prophesy about John Stewart told to him on Maltus during the Trinity mini-series anywhere in here. --69.141.206.123 00:03, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Marine Corps[edit]

The article states that in his early years, he was an architect and a marine. But the section on the TV show says that the Marine history was created for the show and only later added to the comics as a retcon. Can someone verify when the Marine aspect was added and update the bio to clarify? Thanks, Aristophanes68 (talk) 02:37, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The retcon was made in Green Lantern V4 #26, adding the reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lordmagnusen (talkcontribs) 20:31, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No mask?[edit]

Under "Publication History," it says "He is the second Green Lantern not to wear a mask." Who was the first? Alan Scott wore a mask. Hal Jordan wore a mask. Guy Gardner had only made one appearance (GL #59) before John's debut, but it was a "what-if" type of story... and in it, he wore a mask. --WaxTadpole (talk) 21:34, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The unmasked Green Lantern mentioned would be intended to be Abin Sur. It would be more accurate to say that John was the third Green Lantern to be shown to be unmasked on duty, as Sinestro had previously been introduced into the series. Later writers indicated others who were unmasked in those days, such as Kilowog. Jallan (talk) 03:39, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the move to Green Lantern (John Stewart)[edit]

I see the example in Wikipedia:Naming conventions (comics), but I'm not sure that is a good move, because I just don't see that as a proper disambiguation. I reverted it per WP:COMMONNAME, and hopefully to discuss it before any change is made. John Stewart is a Green Lantern, and in every instance, he is commonly referred to as John Stewart, not Green Lantern. If it were a case where there was only one Green Lantern at a time, and the subject was only referred to as (or even most commonly referred to as) Green Lantern, it would make more sense, but that isn't the case here. John Stewart isn't the Green Lantern, and Green Lantern isn't the WP:COMMONNAME for this article's subject, John Stewart is. The article's subject is not Green Lantern, it is John Stewart, who is a Green Lantern. I don't see why the article's actual subject should be the disambiguation, and not the proper title. - SudoGhost 00:09, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Daily Show[edit]

i always get a giggle when I hear this green lantern's name. did Jon Stewart ever reference his superhero countarpart? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arotto (talkcontribs) 19:10, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alter ego: real name or GL?[edit]

There's a discussion about whether the alter ego should be *different* from the article name. Please chime in over at Template_talk:Infobox_comics_character#Alter_ego.3F. Thanks, Aristophanes68 (talk) 01:13, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

John Stewart/Fatality[edit]

Since John Stewart had relations with Fatality against her will doesn't that make him a rapist? He should have known she was being influenced by the ring. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.19.234.104 (talk) 20:32, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hold The Article! 🤔[edit]

👿 “I WANT THE ACTUAL ARTICLE!”

HMM... 🤔 Something's not right in this article.

I thought Green Lantern was Jewish American at first when they created him. WikiWorldTwo (talk) 23:39, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In Other Media[edit]

I'm sorry, but I had to edit the recent entry to "other media" that provided updated details from the Arrow series finale. Despite what many websites are stating, the power ring WAS NOT shown in the final episode. I know this for a fact because I watched it as it aired, knowing what has been speculated, I was on the edge of my seat. The scene goes as follows: John finishes packing up the moving van, then closes the door. As the door shuts, he (and the audience) notices a fireball coming out of the sky. The point of impact into the ground nearby throws John back into the van. The scene changes to show Dinah leaving Star City, as this is a montage showing Team Arrow branching off to their next individual endeavors. Dinah passes a highway sign that says something along the lines of "Oliver Queen Memorial Highway." The scene returns to John, who gets up, shakes off the hit and approaches the crater where the meteor crashed. He sees a box, picks it up, and opens it. The camera is looking up into John's face, so the audience DOES NOT see what is inside of it. All the audience sees is the reflection of a green glow on Diggle's face. The scene then switches to 2040 when The Monitor was speaking to the future Felicity that he where he is about to take her, there will be no return. This is where the audience finally gets an answer as to what happened to the future Felicity and the end of season 7.

IGN.com was one of the first websites to provide information about the finale, and they pointed out that the audience didn't get to see what was inside the box. Every other site that has posted about the finale, the writers of those articles are going off their own excitement and assumptions that John received a power ring. Yes, this is likely what happened, but we can only assume. Diggle could've been looking at a chunk of kryptonite for all we know. The one common truth that every website has posted about since the finale, is that Arrow co-creator & producer Guggenheim said they had to be purposely vague about any potential Green Lantern connection because of their agreement (contract) with DC comics. DC is very strict when it comes to other forms of media using the Lantern universe. Yes there is a Green Lantern series that will appear on the HBO & Warner Brothers streaming service. IF Diggle were to appear on that, they are keeping it under wraps. My point is, Wikipedia (this article) and other sites should stick to the facts when it comes to the Arrow series finale. The audience did not see a power ring. Only something glowing green from inside of it, that illuminated the face of John Diggle. Aidensdaddy2k9 (talk) 19:08, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

First appearance image is wrong[edit]

So in the box at the start of the page, it's not the Neal Adams cover, but a repeat of the image from Secret Origins. This just should fixed, I only ask because I'm a newbie and don't know how to upload a photo. MarvelAge91 (talk) 06:42, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Black Lightning's Lynn Stewart as John Diggle's sister[edit]

The strong implication that Lynn Stewart is John Diggle's sister or step-sister is worth noting because it is further evidence that the character is John Stewart. After the worlds are merged, Lynn mentions she has a brother named John and a father who were both in the military. It's pretty "on the nose". The mention of the reference in the Black Lightning show is just as useful as the reference in Arrow of Diggle's stepfather whose surname is Stewart. No reason to mention one reference and not the other. Swordofneutrality (talk) 05:22, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

During the MOSAIC period, Stewartsaid that no Black person he knew celebrated Kwanzaa. I believe the reader response was rather vehement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.23.5.11 (talk) 17:11, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
