Location list[edit]

I have Season 3 on divx... I'll end up expanding the location list after I finish seasons 1 and 2. --Madchester 01:17, 2005 May 12 (UTC)

Roadblock[edit]

The Roadblock in Singapore had teams run around some fountain (maybe the one in Suntec City) three times. Probably the easiest RB ever, and probably why the editors were wise not to air it. --Madchester 02:58, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

Explanation of changes[edit]

I'm 68.164.92.105 who did the 3 edits of Leg 3 on 23 Aug 2005, but unfortunately I overlooked the "Edit Summary" box on the edit page (though I was looking for something to serve that purpose), so I'll just note quickly the reasons for the changes here (in the hopes that it is appropriate to do so!):

  • Though the narration more than once refers to Dunnotar Castle (and nearby field) being "in the Highlands", none of Aberdeen, Stonehaven, and Dunnotar Castle are in either the geographic or cultural Highlands -- they're all firmly in the Lowlands on both counts. (BTW, I wonder if this is suitable for a trivia item?)
  • The road block was in a field within sight of Dunnotar Castle, not in Aberdeen. At least as televised, all they did in Aberdeen was get off the charter bus (at the bus station) and catch a taxi (at the train station, across the parking lot from the bus station), which then drove them the 15+ miles to Dunnotar Castle (just south of Stonehaven). Mileage totals[edit]

Including the mileage isn't practical, since teams often take different routes along the race. The show only lists arbritrary distances between different locations. Teams often A) get lost or B) take different routes. Things get especially complicated with Fast Forwards and Detours, since their distances from the main race course are never specifically indicated. --Madchester 05:31, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

John Vito and Jill: married or not?[edit]

People keep adding information about John Vito and Jill being married. However, many posts on fan sites claim that they broke up. I can't find reliable evidence either way. I know Michael and Kathy did get married, but can someone know (with proof) whether John Vito and Jill got married? 128.230.13.89 18:52, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Backpacking question[edit]

TeckWiz asked the question:

Why would the pitstop from his season still be there if it was after the race. Should this say season 7?

Aaron from Season 3 (not the one from Season 6) stumbled upon one of the pitstops from Season 6 when backpacking through Europe. I think the info in the article is correct. 128.230.13.89 03:30, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Leg 7[edit]

Is it really true to list Leg 7 as "Morocco→Germany→Austria→Germany→Austria→Germany" when really no team actually went out of and back into Austria? Wouldn't it make more sense to have "Morocco→Germany→Austria/Germany→Germany" or simply "Morocco→Germany→Austria→Germany" while having a footnote explaining the unique situation?

Spoilers[edit]

When I finish watching a season and watch the info on the page I assume the spoiler warning is about the season I just watched. I hated finding out information about the all-star season without warning inside the page. I think it should be edited out. And also, this is the same case for other seasons and perhaps other shows such as survivor. spoiler warnings should be more specific or people will assume it only spoils the issues that are related to the specific season they are reading about. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.179.78.129 (talk) 12:34, 10 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

The results[edit]

Someone changed the table to say derek and drew won and messed up the whole table. Most of it's been changed back but Teri and Ian's and Ken and Gerard's roadblock count has been lost. If anyone knows it can they put it back in. 90.196.175.78 (talk) 16:19, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dennis & Andrew[edit]

I think it is worth noting that Dennis & Andrew were eliminated despite using the Fast Forward -- it was the first and, to date, only time it's happened. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.102.105.41 (talk) 14:09, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the user or editor did to put that because it is so intimidating or some sort of complication. WE must put this on the note. (Singaporeandy (talk) 10:52, 5 February 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Leg 7 title[edit]

The Morocoo to (Germany and Austria) should stay as "Germany to Austria" because for any team that did not opt for the FF (which in this case was only Flo/Zach) they never touched foot in Germany. As such, trying to write it out "M to A to G to A" is just wrong. Because the country borders between Austria and Germany are relatively diffuse, the leg should be considered that all major leg events occurred in the combination of Germany and Austria. --MASEM (t) 23:57, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. These section titles need not be so specific as to the travel directions. Austria was the primary nation and Germany was visited back and forth at the time. It's easier to just say they went to both than go "they went to one the other and then back again".—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 00:04, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And aren't they specific? Because of that, whenever there's two countries you two decided that it will be "A & B"? That's poor argument. I don't see also why borders are an argument here when it's clear that they entered and took an important part of the legs within each country. Also, Ryulong: You and another person do not simply make a consensus. Because I'm sure that if was me and another person agreeing and you opposite, you wouldn't call it that way. I suggest you to bring more people to the discussion as you're the one proposing changes. Grab people from TAR 25 edits and bring them here. If a consensus is then reached, I have no problem at all with it. By the way I never had. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 02:18, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Because all that's important here is the location that they went to. We do not need to go "A -> B -> C -> B" when it's easier to go "A -> B & C" when there's so much travel here, and both nations were given some equal level of airtime, even though in this situation it's mostly Austria, except for the FF and the Pit Stop. And it's vaguely a consensus when it's a third opinion splitting the difference between our stupid edit war.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 02:36, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The borders issue is that because they are neighboring countries, all of that leg was in the same general Germany/Austria area as to make no difference for the broad summary of the leg. --MASEM (t) 02:44, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's all Bavaria/Bayern/whatever the region is.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 03:11, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! Thank you for nominating this article to GA. Unfortunately, I will have to quickfail this article because it is a long way from meeting the good article criteria. Here are some recommendations to make the article better:

  • The lead is way too short. Per WP:LEAD, a lead should be an introduction and summary of the article. While the lead does say what this article is about, it doesn't really summarize the full article. You can include things like some of the locations, the prize money, etc.
  • For the Production section:
    • some background information about the show would be good here.
    • Is there more information about production, like casting? Currently the section is a bit slim
    • Awards section should go to Reception.
  • For the Race summary section, it should be a summary of what happens on screen that is not in bulleted list form. See WP:CRUFT.
  • For the Reception section:
    • The section can be further expanded with more reviews, like Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, and reviews from reliable sources.
    • It's not necessary to make a new subsection on critical reception if that's the only subsection.
    • The wrong Linda Holmes is linked.
  • The references need work. You should include first and last names for the authors, even if they have a Wikipedia article. Some sources are dead, and I am also questioning the reliability of some of the sources (like Reality TV World and International Business Times (WP:IBTIMES). If you need reliable sources, feel free to check WP:RSP.

I noticed that you nominated 3 other articles that are seasons of The Amazing Race, unfortunately, those articles also have the same problems as this, so I will be quickfailing them, too. If you need help, I recommend utilizing WP:Peer review and referencing other Good Articles of similar subjects, like Survivor: Cook Islands. I also see that the article would need some copyediting so that it's clearer; you can ask the Guild of Copy Editors. And if you have questions, the WP:Teahouse is welcome to help you. Cheers!
