Average review score[edit]

There is a minor discrepency however, in that if the mean review score across an entire issue of the magazine is taken, the result is always above 50 per cent.

This does not neccessarily indicate that 50 per cent is not taken as an average score by PC Zone. Perhaps one particular issue has an inordinate number of good games.

Also, remember that an average score must be taken in the field of every single game ever released. As games become older their scores become lower, as more recent games will raise the standard for graphics, artificial intelligence and game play. (Even game play has become more sophisticated over time.) PC Zone reflects this by lowering games' scores when they are re-released at a budget price. In other words, it could be the case that the majority of contemporary games are better than the average quality across every game ever released; as a result, the mean review score for contemporary games will be over 50 per cent. NPOV?[edit]

It appears to me that there is an issue with neutrality in this particular article. So long as noone objects, I intend to remove anything that appears non-neutral - especially the references to opinions, which are unfortunately quite widespread within this article. the first editor?[edit]

As I recall from some issues that I can no longer find, the first editor (Chris Anderson ?) decided to quit after something that looked like a breakdown, can anyone follow up on that?

ReOrg[edit]

I have re organised the page and added some information about the first issue. I will update the current edition with some more information soon, but there is still a gap. PC Zone not first PC games mag?[edit]

I wouldn't say PC Zone was the first PC games mag, PC Leisure was dedicated to games (all its covers were games and almost all its articles were gaming-related). Even when PC Leisure had technical articles, they were almost always about sound cards or graphics standards and how well they worked with games, which was a hot topic for gamers at the time.

--- ^^^ I was there and I would agree with the above. The claim that PC Zone was the first dedicated PC games magazine is pure propaganda. PC Leisure was a dedicated gaming magazine before PC Zone. Other Zones[edit]

I remember magazines from around the same era called Game Zone and Sega Zone; were these sister publications, or completely unrelated? Kelvingreen 17:38, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Price[edit]

The article correctly states that the first issue price was £3.95. But fairly soon afterwards, it had gone down to £2.95. Does anyone know when? The earliest issue I have is number 10, which I'm fairly sure was £2.95. This is before the bifurcation of floppy versus CD editions created two different prices (£2.95 and £3.95 respectively, at least initially). Also, I'm fairly sure that throughout this period (up to 1995-ish), this made it £1 cheaper than its competitors (PC Gamer particularly), like-for-like (whether floppy or CD). Can anyone source this more reliably? I can only confirm against the small set of back issues I have of these two magazines. Stephen lamppost (talk) 22:59, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
