I thought US govt text was not Copyvio?

Yeah, there's something odd going on here. I missed the initial copyvio notice or I would have spoken up earlier. I copied the source text for this article from a NOAA site and an EPA site, URLs listed in the edit summaries. Both are US federal agencies and neither page has copyright information, so I'm 99% sure these things are public domain. I'm reverting the page until someone explains why they think these things aren't. Bryan 07:13, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Couldn't find the copyright either on the NOS/NOAA site; so I thought safer to assume copyrighted material. The site greennature.com has the same material, so keeping it might be no problem.--J heisenberg 10:12, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Ah, just differing default assumptions for the "copyright info omitted on U.S. federal page" case, then. I was worried you'd come across something more definitive, in which case I might be in trouble on other pages I probably copied from those sources too (and would have a heck of a time hunting down again after all this time since I barely remember what I was doing back then :). I suppose I should add those links in a "references" section at the bottom of the page instead of just relying on the history of edit summaries to hold them, hopefully it'll make it easier to sort things out if a clearer copyright issue comes up. Other than that, though, I'm feeling pretty confident that these sources are indeed public domain. Bryan 00:46, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

London Protocol should probably have its own page[edit]

Please refer to Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter (imo.org). While it's mentioned in the existing Convention page that the Protocol is to replace it, nothing has been done here to really lay out the nuance. The number of ratification parties is no longer the same, i.e. 53 instead of 87, so it could be confusing to talk about the newer Protocol here.
