Duplication with Solihull - I am proposing that this article is merged into the Solihull article. There is duplication and the title Solihull (borough) is not the intuitive search term. I would propose that much of the material in this article is retained and tranfered over. Any views befiore I do this ? - Velela

I think that this would be a bad idea; one of them is about the city, the other is about the borough.
Also, whether or not "(borough)" is an 'intuitive' search term is irrelevant - people can search using "borough" just as successfully.

Hmmm.... not sure about the City. Solihull still remains a Metropolitan Borough composed of many districts or Areas. The true old Solihull was only the current town centre. Even when I lived in Solihull, Stonor Park was not considered real Solihull for example. My contention is that Solihull and its Metropolitan Borough Boundary are logically one and the same in encycopaedic terms and , as both articles are relatively short, the division into two seems rather arbirary and confusing. especially for thiose with little knowledge of the Borough. Incidentaly, I do believe that the ceremonial county is Warwickshire and not West Midlands as given in the Solihull (borough) article. Do you agree ?

You had better talk to User:Morwen about this she was responsible for splitting the article. I'm not entirely sure I agree about re-merging in this case, as Solihull the borough includes many places other than the town of Solihull.

In the split the item on Education was included in the "town" -it should in fact be in this article as the schools concerned in Building Schools for the future for example are outside the "town" in the North of the Borough--AndyCPrivate (talk) 11:08, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In answer to your other question, Solihull ceased to be part of the ceremonial county of Warwickshire in 1974 when the West Midlands was created, although some people might claim that it is still in the Traditional County of Warwickshire, but that's another matter. G-Man 19:53, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

History[edit]

I wonder if most of the history on this page could be moved to the main Solihull article? G-Man * 20:54, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
