Voted for Bush/Kerry in which election?[edit]

In the opening blurb it talks about percentages in voting precincts that voted for Bush or Kerry. I assume this refers to the 2004 election, but that should really be stated explicitly. --Animatorgeek 01:30, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

area vs land area[edit]

Not only Wahkiakum but also Island and Kitsap counties are smaller than San Juan in total area, but because San Juan County has so much water area it is indeed the smallest Washington County in land area. Of course, San Juan County wouldn't be itself (and probably wouldn't be a county) if it weren't for all that water area...--Haruo 16:36, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2004 2006 voting patterns[edit]

This county is usually even more liberal than the famously liberal King County, but does not have the reputation King County does because its population is so much smaller, and therefore its effect on elections much weaker. The only area of the County won by George W. Bush in 2004 was the Decatur Island/Blakely Island precinct, with just over 50 votes. Waldron Island's precinct voted 96.5% of the vote to John Kerry. In 2006, Maria Cantwell, the Democrat running for re-election to the U.S. Senate, won all precincts.[4]

San Juan Islands / County[edit]

Waldron and "Poverty"[edit]

Suggesting that Waldron is "impoverished" is beyond misleading. This is an island that has voted not to have telephone landline or electricity service and is very much a non-cash economy. Using reported cash income as a guide is meaningless. Avocats (talk) 20:59, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
