City of God[edit]

Searching around the net, I have seen references to this nickname originating the 1930s based on a story from Ripley's Believe It or Not. According to the sources, the city was cited as having the most churches per capita in the US. Anyone have any more details on this?SRICE13 (TALK | EDITS) 16:33, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Initial assessment[edit]

Well beyond a stub. to become a "B" article it needs expansion especially in ecology and planning history and it need more sourcing and some images. Anlace 02:55, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

It isn't clear to me why a photograph of Starbuck's adds anything to this article, except possibly promote Starbuck's. If others agree it's advertising, we should delete.--Leifern 22:35, May 11, 2005 (UTC)

Turkey jingle[edit]

Many Californians know Turlock primarily through the "Turkeys from Turlock" radio advertising jingle. Should there be a mention of this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.225.17.141 (talk) 07:36, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I found an article in Flying Magazine specifically about this jingle and added a brief mention to Turlock, California § In popular culture. Sadly I have not yet found the actual jingle. Bzzne (talk) 04:54, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Turlock name origin[edit]

The article currently states Turlough as the source of the name Turlock. However, there are no references to this origin. The only reference to the word Turlock is James Payn's Bred in the Bone, which was retained as a source from a previous edit. So, I feel mentions of the word Turlough should be removed, unless it is sourced.SpannerJack (talk) 19:01, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Size is wrong?[edit]

I thought that Turlock is bigger than 16.9 sq mi? Am I wrong, either with my quote or my estimation of the town's size? Maccore Henni Mii! Pictochat Mii! 16:31, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Actual turlock size[edit]

(Please not that I am doing my own section as a reply to the previous section due to not knowing how to properly reply on Wikipedia) The size of turlock is actually bigger than 16.9 square miles. A while ago, I used the google maps measure distance tool to outline the city limits and the enclaves of county inside the city to get a size of around 20 square miles.JH2006 (talk) 05:10, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of Turlock[edit]

So, I am a Turlock resident, and have been for all of my life, and there's something I noticed a while ago that I need to bring up. Turlock has an official city flag, yet it seems that almost no one on the internet believes it does. Even I only know that the flag exists because it is flying outside of the city hall, which is on my route to school. The only place where someone can see the flag at all without coming to Turlock itself is to look on google maps, the only place on the internet where the flag exists. The design itself is like most American city flags, with the city seal on a banner, but the flag nonetheless exists. JcubH06 (talk) 20:53, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

# in City Council[edit]

Just claiming the recent anonymous edit correctly summing the 5-member City Council to a Mayor + 4 (rather than 3) Council members. I forgot I was logged out of Wikipedia when I made the edit -- whoops. WJHollerich (talk) 02:36, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
