Another comment[edit]

"Early twentieth century" or "late nineteenth century" discovery of phosphate, surely? PML

I removed the following lines:

"There is currently some debate as to whether Nauru is a truly sovereign nation, due to the fact that the island's finances and security forces are almost entire ly controlled by Australia [1]."

The link is extremely POV (personally I agree with parts of it). I take an active interest in Nauru and have not run across serious claims that the sovereignty of Nauru is being questioned. Australia also economically advises PNG and no one questions their sovereignty. Robertbrockway, 09:39, March 12, 2005 UTC.
