Untitled[edit]

I can find NO evidence that Flora MacDonald (Canadian politician) was ever part of the group that stole the Stone from Westminster Abbey in 1950, or that she even studied in Scotland. Sounds like humorous misinformation, given the similarity of names with Flora Macdonald.

And it's not something that a participant would wish to hide, since with the passage of time, some of the actual participants in the "burglary" became respectable and celebrated, and it did not harm their careers, quite the contrary.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.68.254.13 (talk) 08:10, 27 March 2004

Page Move[edit]

It's very awkward to have Flora MacDonald and Flora Macdonald be completely different pages. I'd suggest that this Flora MacDonald is less notable, hence we should disambiguate this page with her middle name, and let Flora MacDonald link to Flora Macdonald. Any objections? Adam Cuerden talk 16:54, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I object (since you ask). The Canadian politician is just not known as "Flora Isabel MacDonald". If it is necessary or desirable to disambiguate, another means should be found (e.g. birth dates, or a designator like "politician"). Noel S McFerran 19:13, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about Flora MacDonald (politician)? Adam Cuerden talk 19:45, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It may be a matter of where we are each from, but this Flora is far more notable, at least here in Canada. She is widely known by her name as it appears in the article title. I would suggest the other article be named Flora MacDonald (Jacobite Heroine) rather than change this article, but the suggestion of adding (politician) is better than adding her middle name. --KenWalker | Talk 19:53, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
DNB supports MacDonald for the Jacobite. In the rest of the English-speaking world, she is probably more known than a defeated Canadian Minister; we should disambiguate both and set up a dab page to avoid mislinks. Using {politician) and {Jacobite) is probably least trouble. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:56, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds sensible to me.--KenWalker | Talk 19:30, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Works for me. Just the current state of things must change. Adam Cuerden talk 23:10, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • support. but better is Flora MacDonald (Canadian Politician) and then move Flora Macdonald to Flora MacDonald (Scottish Jacobite heroine). No disambiguation page needed as long as each article's cross reference is maintained. bärlinerTalk 13:59, 10 July 2007 (UTC) [copied from WP:RM by Stemonitis 16:35, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • Eh, it'd have to be a disambig page, though, or we'd be linking Flora MacDonald direct to one of them - and if we are, why are we disambiguating that one? (the capitalisation "Flora Macdonald" is wrong). Adam Cuerden talk 19:34, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about "Flora MacDonald (Canadian politican)" (note lower-case "p") and "Flora MacDonald (Jacobite)". It seems to me that the word "heroine" is POV. Noel S McFerran 18:02, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"Jacobite" might be a little obscure, given Flora's slightly better known than the disagreements and uprisings that form the context for her story. What about "Scottish Jacobite"? It's redundant, but for people that vaguely know her, that might be enough to clarify it to 'em. Adam Cuerden talk 19:40, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've made a start. I should note that Flora Macdonald still redirects to Flora MacDonald (Scottish Jacobite) - but this is only because it took me a good hour to clear out the redirects for Flora MacDonald so I'm giving myself a break. Adam Cuerden talk 20:49, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Finished move and disambig. Adam Cuerden talk 23:23, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article may be improved by following the WikiProject Biography 11 easy steps to producing at least a B article. The article was rated as B class but I have reduced it to start. It lacks completeness and has inconsistency. --KenWalker | Talk 17:09, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 17:56, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
