merge with Shantou?[edit]

Should the content be merged with Shantou? olivier 09:14, 31 Jul 2003 (UTC)

No, because despite their intermingling thru out history (and apparently very flexible dominance), they are today separate cities on equal level, no longer dominated by one or another. I've added some history stuff to Shantou to clarify that, but I think one needs to know Chaozhou's history as well -- I'll add that in a minute. --Menchi 00:40, Aug 1, 2003 (UTC)
Sounds good. When I wrote the note above, the Chaozhou article was mentioning that another name for the city was Shantou. That's basically why I asked the question. Now, is there any difference between Shantou and Shantou City, and between Chaozhou and Chaozhou City? olivier 01:53, 1 Aug 2003 (UTC)
No difference. They refer to the same thing. It's just to clarify their level in governance, because a non-Chinese may find confuse Shantou as a neighbouring province, and Fujian to be a city. So "city" and "province" are placed where ambiguity could occur to harm the understanding. --Menchi 02:29, Aug 1, 2003 (UTC)
FYI, I also took out the reference in chiuchow cuisine of Shantou being aka Chaozhou. - Fuzheado 02:49, 1 Aug 2003 (UTC)

I think 8 is a lucky number, not 4. Because 8 contains a lot of good wishes. It may brings good luck to someone who holds it.

Chiu Chow[edit]

I came here because of this: http://72.14.235.104/search?q=cache:l3qPDQ78WJ0J:www.copi.com/articles/triads1.html+%22Albert+Yeung%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=au&client=firefox-a But no mention in the article regarding this, was expecting there would be? Mathmo Talk 21:27, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gongfu Tea[edit]

Gong fu cha, or gongfu tea, is a manner of preparing tea, not a type of tea. The wikipedia article on the subject is much closer to the mark. As for the term "Ganghu", maybe it's a different way of saying "gongfu" or "kungfu", but the only search that popped up was a site that seems to be plagiarizing directly from Wikipedia without attribution (liquisearch.com). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.247.178.212 (talk) 02:18, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
