"The first one to host a soup kitchen This latest addition sounds like complete nonsense to me. Could anyone explain? <KF> 00:58, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)

Capone & soup kitchens[edit]

There were lots of soup kitchens during the Great Depression...Al Capone just ran one of them....it seems far-fetched to give him credit for the idea.

Problem[edit]

This really doesn't give enough information on soup kitchens. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.92.173.21 (talk) 23:33, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's assumed that a basic definition explains a lot. Maybe an expanded history of soup kitchens is needed 69.201.159.52 (talk) 02:15, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Soup Kitchens in An Gorta Mór 1845-51[edit]

I never even thought of the modern soup kitchens. I just set up an article Took the soup about people in the Great Irish Famine who changed their religion in order to be fed by the soup Kitchens during that time (Catholics couldn't take meat on a friday, so had to change their religion when meat was put in the soup on that day). Most Irish people would know the soup kitchens through that. Captain Fearnought (talk) 18:32, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Globalise[edit]

I added worldwide view, as there are many pages that link to this one that don't mention the US, for example Ottoman empire mentions soup kitchens more than once. - Francis Tyers · 19:35, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

iOS app error[edit]

I’ve noticed that the description for soup kitchen in the iOS Wikipedia app is “Cultural heritage site in Peru”. This is an obvious mistake, so can it be fixed? Battlesnake1 (talk) 04:52, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done Fixed on Wikidata here. Daask (talk) 10:33, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
