Army vs Air Force[edit]

Russell Maughan was started in the Army which included military flying prior to 1947 when the USAF was separated (see USAF). He retired in 1946 so he was an army pilot. He never actually served in the separate USAF. I was confused because it lists him as USAF in one ext ref and as a career Army officer in the other.

Some of this may need to stated in the article. RJFJR 00:33, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have cleaned this up. Hill AFB had a much better bio in a base publication, which was reduced in content and rewritten here. Colonel Maughan's cross-country record was verified in the Air Force-published history text, and his commands in Maurer Maurer. I can find absolutely no record indicating that he ever commanded either fighters (the Hill article) or bombers (the original of this article) or flew combat in WWII. He was 49 years old when he last commanded a flying unit (commanding officer of a wing was not a flying job).--Buckboard 11:02, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
