Organisation, NPOV, Wikification[edit]

Something seems to be out of place in the article. After much talk of Warnings/Promises, it starts talking about Remote Part again and touring with Pearl Jam on their Riot Act tour. Something's wrong there, but I don't know exactly how to fix it, so I hope someone else will. Also, calling Idlewild (they're great...don't get me wrong here) one of "Scotland and the world's most cherished bands" is definitely not in keeping with NPOV. I'll give someone else time to tone this down before I take it upon myself to do it. Also, much more wikification is needed. All in all... good article with good balance of thoroughness and brevity.--Hraefen 16:30, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article is a mess. Severe vandalism over the whole thing. What a disgrace to have this on wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.129.30.132 (talk) 11:14, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV concerns[edit]

"Idlewild are a truly independent band, in that they do not fit into any specific scene, though their sound has clearly been influenced by bands like Fugazi, early Pixies and more recently R.E.M.." I think that's going a bit far. Idlewild have a very strong punk sound, that's how I've always described them. They do have a certain uniqueness compared to mtv-punk but i would hardly say they don't fit into any scene. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 121.44.130.198 (talkcontribs) 7:16, 1 September 2006 (UTC).

Idlewild/Outkast mix up[edit]

Can we have a mention of the Outkast Idlewild mix up controversy? Magic Pickle 22:47, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What was that exactly? If it's notable enough and can be cited... why not?--Hraefen Talk 23:06, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There was an interview where the band noted their displeasure in Outkast using the title 'Idlewild'. They joked that they should release an album called 'Outkast'. I don't have refs, sadly. Magic Pickle 13:08, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New Album Announcement[edit]

I'm not a regular user of wikipedia and got no user thus, so could anyone please add this?

If It Takes You Home[edit]

This was available as a download and a 7" single [1] so was it ineligible for chart or did it just not chart?

=Missing 100 Broken Windows album from album gallery[edit]

The 3rd CD (second full-lenth album) is missing from the gallery of albums.

Fair use rationale for Image:Captain album cover.jpg[edit]

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Orphaned references in Idlewild (band)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Idlewild (band)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Q":

  • From The Birthday Suit: Rod Jones (11 October 2012). "Guest column - Never meet your heroes? What about supporting them asks Idlewild's Rod Jones". Q Music. Bauer. Retrieved 2 February 2013. {{cite web}}: Unknown parameter |coauthors= ignored (|author= suggested) (help)
  • From Rod Jones (musician): Rod Jones (11 October 2012). "Guest column - Never meet your heroes? What about supporting them asks Idlewild's Rod Jones". Q Music. Bauer. Retrieved 2 February 2013.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 20:35, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
