Not a problem, you've made several improvements. Also, do you think we should mark or separate the ones that are explicit rules violations as such? (Batting out of turn, leaving the basepath, interference, etc.) They're not directly caused by any defensive effort, and it might be good to clarify that to readers. Since this isn't an official rulebook, I think it would be fine to seperate them out a bit. —siro χ o

Assigned putout[edit]

I'm pretty sure that when a proper batter is called out on appeal due to an improper batter hitting in his place in the order, the putout goes to the catcher. This isn't mentioned in the article that deals with abtting out of order. This should be mentioned in the section that explains how a putout is sometimes assigned to the nearest fielder. There may be other technical putouts that credit the catcher. WHPratt (talk) 18:08, 17 May 2012 (UTC) Of course, in this case, the catcher is bound to be the nearest fielder, but my point was that there may be other cases where the catcher gets a putout by default, with proximity having nothing to do with it. Out (baseball) → Out (baseball and softball) – Outs exist identically in the rules of baseball and softball. Unless we're considering softball a variety of baseball (which we very well could), the parenthetical should include the two separate sports in which this concept exists. Dennis C. Outs Made formula[edit]
