Chancellors[edit]

"Chancellors" section has been moved to List of University of Birmingham people. I think it would be apt to have that section in the list. UI1990 (talk) 03:33, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Birmingham, England, not Birmingham, Alabama, US.[edit]

As an American in California, when I see Birmingham, I automatically think Alabama. Sorry, I know it's an American bias thing. Anyway, I would have thought that to alleviate this, the opening sentence or paragraph would very quickly indicate that the University of Birmingham is in fact in England, U.K. It doesn't immediately state this and I was confused for a little bit. Can some good editor clear this up? 130.76.186.17 (talk) 13:56, 23 September 2015 (UTC)Kevin in Cali[reply]

Student number for Jacob Maisha Molepo: Bachelor of Philosophy in Education (1985)[edit]

Can you please help me to get my student number when I studied for Bachelor of Philosophy in Education in 1985 at Birmingham University. My name is Jacob Maisha Molepo. My email address is mmolepo@wsu.ac.za — Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.21.119.153 (talk) 09:15, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is not the correct place to be asking this question, I would try the Alumni office (alumnioffice@contacts.bham.ac.uk) but you will need to provide proof of identity (e.g. passport scan) to get any information from them I imagine. Mountaincirque 09:47, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

John McHardy Sinclair[edit]

Isn't John McHardy Sinclair, the linguist, worth mentioning in this article? --Kommerz (talk) 20:14, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article you link to has a single reference, he seems to be notable in of himself but I would suggest that you place your effort on greatly improving the content of that page before suggesting he is notable enough to be named as in the main article on the University of Birmingham which should really be limited to Nobel Prize winners, highly notable politicians and leaders in their fields. Sinclair may qualify for this but I don't think he should be included until he actually has a properly referenced page of his own. CWAS / DASA[edit]

Hallo, Working on the article Lynne Brydon I read the statement "As Director of DASA (formerly CWAS)..." on her University profile, but we still have an article Centre of West African Studies, linked from the {{University of Birmingham}} template under "Facilities".

Could someone more familiar with the university update as appropriate?

I see also that her UoB web profile says she "is currently Head of the School of History and Cultures", while someone else's says "In January 2022 I began my new role as Head of the School of History and Cultures.", but that's up to the university to keep its pages up to date. I'll stick to giving the date she took up that role, for wikipedia. As she is "honorary" staff, she has presumably retired from some or all of her other university positions.
