Artwork[edit]

Can someone explain what that is on the cover of the album, i mean i have no idea what it is, and is that other stuff mentioned inside of the album or something, and why does this all mean it was banned from stores??

i believe it was a sculpture by Adam Jones and it was banned from stores because of a nude fat chick and a nude dude El hombre de haha 06:38, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's a ribcage on the cover. –Pomte 06:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yea but whats the meaning and y exactly did it get banned? I think that deserves to be added in detail to the article
It was Adam's sculpture, and banned for the offensive images inside. It is unclear whether WAL*MART or the other corporations though the actual cover was offensive. I have added a note about holding the cover up to a light. Doubt there is anything more to say about this. –Pomte 21:23, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
the ribcage is an expression of adam's long love of ribcages. moreover, maynard and danny discovered (while they were performing magickal rites, conjuring demons, that sort of thing) that there are many cosmological and divine prophecies that are revealed in a rib cage. (any ribcage really, all the cage needs is ribs). i read somewhere that the band's official stance is that you should kill your pets and/or parents and seek these prophecies from handling the ribcage.
why do you demand someone else tell you the meaning. what does it mean to you. El hombre de haha 07:14, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
ps dont kill anyone

Bill Hicks[edit]

Footnote number 5 mentions "Keenan's evangelical vocals" on "Disgustipated" but I always thought that that satirical sermon was spoken by the late comedian Bill Hicks, whom Tool has pain tribute to many times.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.116.165.249 (talkcontribs).

I thought so, too, at first. Until now, I couldn't find any evidence regarding this, when Tool members talk about Hicks appearing on their records, they mention Third Eye only - and I really have been looking for it.. So, I guess you have to keep in mind that Keenan also performed stand-up comedy, so it could actually be him.. --Johnnyw talk 09:50, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, obviously it is Bill Hicks. It wouldn't make any sense for Keenan to say "...you see Reverend Maynard...". But I do understand what you mean by not having any evidence, it isn't anywhere in the liner notes, it should be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.174.23.168 (talk) 18:06, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When he says "...you see, Reverend Maynard..." that is the angel talking to his character, so yes, that would be Maynard, not Bill Hicks. Just saying. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.125.179.109 (talk) 04:49, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Disgustipated" in the same track with "Flood"[edit]

Can someone please tell me, which are the versions of the album that contain only 9 tracks, with Disgustipated following Flood on track 9 instead of being its own track number 10 or 69. -Thanks a lot! -Deba Tihs ´n´ Mad Dog 11:35, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Just reading the Tool faq on Toolshed, saying that MJK stated that: "Apparently the anal cavity has 8 more working muscles and is 4 degrees warmer than the vagina. This, however, is NOT a song about violation. It is a song about opening up, completely, without reservation."

Just a note.

Q 2-star link dead[edit]

I am shocked to see that Q music allegedly gave Undertow a 2 out of 5 rating as per the wiki article. However, on clicking to verify this using supplied link it just redirects to Q musics main webpage, therefore wheres the proof?

Tracks 10-68[edit]

The fact that these tracks run for less than 2 seconds defies the Redbook standards for Audio CDs... so I'm asking how was this CD mastered and is there a way to make audio CDs like this Tool album with silent tracks lasting less then 2 seconds? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.107.65.60 (talk) 00:41, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Phone message[edit]

Shouldn't there be more information about the phone message in Disgustipated, like where the band got the message from and what it is about(satanism, something like that). --Arcai 29 November 2008 7:14 AM —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.28.21.39 (talk) 12:15, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the albums credits as well, it says "Phone Message: Bill the Landlord," is this just a Tool joke? Or is it someone who sounds creepily like Maynard.....? Meh... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.17.72.92 (talk) 16:04, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Its the guy from Green Jello... Bill Manspeaker. I believe he was one of the band memebers' landlord way back in the early 90s or something. I recall reading that somewhere. I can't remember where. If i find it again, I will add it and reference it.Ibanez Guy (talk) 18:00, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recording Studio[edit]

In the opening text it says it was recording at Grand Master in Hollywood. But in the sidebar it says Sound City. Needs to be consistent. For what it's worth, the Sound City website says it was recorded there: http://soundcitystudios.net/recordings-by-year Agershon (talk) 16:24, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
