first paragraph--number of seasons[edit]

The opening paragraph is problematic factually. It lists there as being 4 seasons but cites the reference as being from someone who has "four years worth of shows." It aired for five years (jan 83-may 87). Then to finish the paragraph wikipedia states that some distributions combine season four and season five. This is a bizarre statement. First of all, is there multiple distributions? No. Secondly it directly opposes the opening sentence of the same paragraph. Thirdly, the evidence from the DVD is in favor of there only being four seasons--Jerry Juhl states that they knew that the fourth season would be their last (season 4 overview). They finished shooting may 16 of 1986, well after HBO had finished airing that season, so there is some ambiguity obviously. Since the linked reference is factually incorrect (or not an endorsement of the number of seasons at all), and the final sentence is problematic, I would like some sort of consensus as to how it should be presented before I just change it.18abruce (talk) 15:01, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I see the issue - the TV.com data with air dates shows it being aired over 5 seasons with irregular season lengths, while the DVD is netly packaged into 4x24 ep seasons. 71.145.168.0 (talk) 10:18, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think you have still missed the problem, the Henson company believes the show to have 4 seasons. The opening sentence states 5 seasons, and then has two footnotes that both declare that there are four seasons. Very very poor authorship. Once again, Jerry Juhl, who wrote and produced much of the show, believes there are four seasons, the list of episodes from henson.com says four seasons. It aired over five so I would guess that is where TV.com and the rest get the notion of 5, but it never came from the company that made the show.18abruce (talk) 21:58, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Television series"--years[edit]

The first paragraph of the 'Television Series' says that it "ran from January 10, 1983 to March 30, 1987", but that it was "one of the first shows to be co-produced by HIT Entertainment since its foundation in 1989". This has to be a mistake as it is saying that the running of the series (1983 onwards) came after the foundation of HIT entertainment (1989). 86.9.150.154 (talk) 18:29, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gorg garden in narrative topology[edit]

In the British version, with which I am familiar, the exterior action takes place on a rocky outcrop occupied by a lighthouse. The Gorg exterior scenes make sense in this context as another part of the rock; it is possible, although never attempted, to walk or climb from the Gorgs' garden to the lighthouse without going underground. Can someone familiar with the other international versions please add explanations describing how the Gorgs' garden fits into the context of the inventor's workshop or the bakery? Are these locations also rural rocky outcrops? If not, is the Gorgs' garden actually underground; if so, how is the sky explained in these scenes? The North American Doc lives on a secluded coastline (typically rocky), first mentioned when the bed and breakfast goes up across the street in Season 2, which is likewise not visually shown. I don't remember it ever suggested that Doc and Sprockett are or aren't aware of their Gorg neighbours, but they are close. By Episode 3, "Let the Water Run", it's clear that Doc's pipes are near Fraggle Pond, which is beneath the Gorg's well. The water problem affected everyone. In North American Season 1 episode 12, The Finger of Light, Doc annoys his neighbors, who present a petition with a long list of signatures, so it appears to be a residential area. In episodes 1-12, the Gorg garden appears to be outside in the open, no other context. As it happens, I've only watched up to this episode, and I don't remember the episodes I watched back then (nor would I trust it!). :-) Scott McNay (talk) 03:08, 5 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The Silly Creature World and the Gorg World exist in different dimensions. The Fraggle tunnels are a connection between these dimensions. There is one episode where the two rats leave the garbage pile and somehow also the Fraggle tunnels. One paragraph begins "In May 2008 it was announced[by whom?] that The Weinstein Company will be distributing the Fraggle Rock movie." and ends with a little [12]. When at work[edit]

Missing section[edit]

This article is missing a key piece for any story series: the plot. I realize there are other articles with list of characters, but this master article should at least have the basics... The heap--what ho?[edit]

Having watched almost all of Fraggle Rock when it played on HBO, and after reading this article twice, I find it somewhat surprising that there's no mention on the sentient trash heap. I think her name was Marge. 'Marge the Trash Heap' (or the Garbage Heap) was an important character, to whom the Fraggles often came for advice. In one episode--probably mentioned in the title list--she tried to show to the Fraggles, the Doozers, and the Gorgs that they were interdependent; her plan failed.

A search on garbage, trash, and sentient (the first two words appear in episode titles) indicates there's nothing about her in the article, unless I overlooked something.

Closed captioning shows that the Trash Heap's name is "Marjorie". Given that she (and her two attendants; pink is Philo and gray is Gunge, according to SEason 1 Episode 13) appear roughly every other episode, they're clear secondary characters. Scott McNay (talk) 02:58, 5 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gorg Size[edit]

Gorgs are not 1.8m tall. Gorgs are much bigger than humans. This can be easily seen when comparing a Fraggle to a Gorg. For scenes with "Silly Creatures" (humans) the full size Fraggle puppets were used. For scenes with Gorgs, smaller Fraggle puppets were used. In light of the upcoming TV series Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, I am suggesting we create a page for it so that anything exclusive to the show can be listed there like mentionings of certain characters being voiced by big names as well as the mentioning of a female Doc.
