First scientific publication of the currently accepted age of the Earth.

Removed gossip[edit]

"The Gestapo subjected him to brutal interrogation, accused of being a Soviet spy. Through efforts of Max von Laue, Houtermans was released in August 1940, whereupon he took a position at Forschungslaboratoriums für Elektronenphysik, a private laboratory of Manfred von Ardenne, in Lichterfelde, a suburb of Berlin."

Where do you have this story from? How could he be a spy, when he was exchanged from the USSR and being again imprisioned? Then, after 3 months taking an important position in German research ... says enough, doesn't it?

Removed that crap about Gestapo, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.157.123.75 (talk) 17:07, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Austrian-Dutch-German ?[edit]

Why is he called a Austrian-Dutch-German physicist ? Because he had a Dutch-sounding family name ? What is his connection to Austria ? --193.175.73.206 (talk) 10:15, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
