Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help, specifically Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/Guideline.

Reverting Cathyandnoah's deletion of "Kotzebue is also about 30 miles from Noatak and Kiana and other smaller towns and is the only town in the region with a true airport." citing "This statement is inaccurate".
  • Kotzebue, Alaska 66°53′50″N 162°35′8″W
  • Noatak, Alaska 67°34′19″N 162°58′30″W is about "30" miles to the North and West.
  • Kiana, Alaska 66°58′18″N 160°25′49″W is about "40" miles to the East.

I did not write the statement which is in the article - "town" and "region" are "too vague". I believe the original contributor was trying to say that Kotzebue was the only city in the Northwest Arctic Borough (or within about 200? miles) to have regularly scheduled "large" (jet?) commercial passenger aircraft service to and from places like Anchorage, Alaska. By "true airport", the original contributor could have also meant one with either:

  • having a paved runway
  • 24-hour or regularly staffed air traffic control tower?
  • Nome, Alaska 64°30′14″N 165°23′58″W Nome Airport the closest larger airport is about 250+ miles to the South (in the Nome Census Area rather than the Northwest Arctic Borough).

I agree that there are a least a couple of things wrong with the (deleted) sentence, but "deleting" it entirely is not the same as "correcting". LeheckaG (talk) 07:03, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Venetian Glass Beads Found in Arctic Alaska Predate Arrival of Columbus[edit]

Found at beads at three prehistoric sites in northern Alaska. Shashalik, north of Kotzebue may have been a trade site for these. See http://www.sci-news.com/archaeology/venetian-glass-beads-arctic-alaska-09357.html --Ernsts (talk) 13:52, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Long history of domestic violence, sexual assault, and murder[edit]

ProPublica, alongside Anchorage Daily News, has published a massive investigation into Mayor Clement Richards Sr' sons and their history of domestic violence of multiple women and likely murder of two women, all of which has been actively covered up and not criminally pursued by the local prosecutors and judicial magistrates. This also falls into the broader topic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, of which the two murdered women were. Is there a good place to add this broader issue into this article on Kotzebue?
