Kidnapping?[edit]

Wasn't there an incident in the early 80s when he (or one of his family members) was kidnapped or held hostage? Anyone remember this at all? —Silly Dan _(talk) 16:41, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On April 21, 1982, a man broke into their house and held both Pocklington and his wife (Eva?) at gunpoint. His wife escaped (there was video of her running away from the house). Eventually there was gunfire between the gunman and police, and Pocklington was shot. Pockington gave a television interview from his hospital bed as he recovered. Comeback???[edit]

What's this about a Pocklington comeback? I called around and heard he's working on a multi-billion dollar deal, can anyone verify any of this??? Lets get some more info on this to build this section or delete it there's no truth to it. Fortune before meat packing[edit]

The article says Pocklington made his money in meat packing. Actually, he made it well before then as a car dealer (he owned one of the largest Ford dealerships). He bought Gainers well after he was in the public spotlight as owner of the Oilers et al. Somebody want to look up the details and write it up? Greg Salter (talk) 20:34, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Little Caesars[edit]

The article currently claims that 'Little Caesars' is engraved on the Stanley Cup. That claim needs a citation. Also, I believe the several family members claim to be correct, however they served in various positions for the team such as Vice President and minority owner. The way it is presented now makes it sound like the Red Wings were just dropping names on the Cup and hoping they would stick. After looking through the history a little I've found where that bit was thrown in. It looks to me like an unfounded pot-shot at the Red Wings, and in the absence of a citation I've taken it out. The part about the family members, as noted above, is technically true, but they were all part of the organization in some capacity so there is hardly any room for controversy.
