Name Change[edit]

It is stated in the first line that ski STOCKS are quite often incorrectly referred to as ski poles. I would recommend for that purpose that the name of this article be changed to "Ski Stocks". -- Jake Sinnott (talk) 00:19, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Leki link[edit]

I have no idea why there is a little space after the Leki link. Can someone look into that and see why that space is occurring? Also, is it acceptable to specifically talk about the products of these two ski pole companies. This article does not seem encyclopedic to me at all. It seems like an advertisement out of a cataloug or something. I needs to be changed significantly. The link to the outside site should not be inline in the article, it should be in a seperate seciton at the end. Various other formating issues exist. Aurora, please don't be offended, but I have restored an original sentence near the beginning, it was really clearer. Poor edit[edit]

"Ski poles were first used to test the snow you would be skiing over. That way you could get a rough mental picture of what you were skiing over. Now ski poles should be used as a timing device not for balance."

These statements seem misplaced (in the paragraph starting with the types of skiing that don't use poles), and contradictory to the rest of the article, or even plainly unfounded. --74.46.57.20 (talk) 22:05, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What does 'fasted mean?

Patent Citations[edit]

Due to the extremely limited amount of scholarly information on the internet about 'who invented what' when it comes to ski poles, I have sourced patent citations in the History section until I can source proper articles. Please, do not simply delete these citations, if you are going to delete them, replace them with a proper source so that readers at least have something to refer to. Half poles?[edit]

I have seen footage of downhill skiers with poles that only project about 6" beyond the hand grip. What is their purpose? Just for balance maybe? They certainly won't be much use for propulsion. 209.93.17.194 (talk) 18:49, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
