Removed entries for places in the United States[edit]

I removed many redlinked entries for towns in the United States in an attempt to follow the Manual of Style for Disambiguation Pages. The entries I removed were linked only from this disambiguation page, and the linked county articles for those entries did not mention the towns and therefore provided no further information about them. Seperate Names[edit]

Actually, the problem is that you recently merged the name pages into the disambiguation page. That's not the (currently) proper procedure. I only noticed because you made several mistakes in templating.

Only procedure for editors familiar with Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy. An "as per WP:WPNAMES" linking to that project in your comments could have helped. The biggest offender is Ash Ketchum who is most frequently linked as just Ash. Let's restore it to your version for now. --Knulclunk (talk) 04:23, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Back when we started splitting the name definitions from the disambiguation pages in 2006, we always left the notable names behind. But the consensus changed, and now they move the name links, too. It's just a simple extra step for disambiguating, not a big deal.

An issue with volcanic ash[edit]

The inclusion of volcanic ash here is problematic, since this article discusses ash as solid residue from burning something. Volcanic ash has a hot source, but nothing actually burns to produce it; it's just a result of fragmenting magma or rock. I'm sort of inclined to move it to See Also, since it's sort of the odd one out among the other forms of ash listed here, but I'd like to hear feedback.
