"Contact intended to cause feelings of intimidation"[edit]

"feelings of intimidation" should be removed as that would fall under the definition of "emotional abuse" or "psychological abuse". The word "intimidation" does not correspond to any physical pressure-point, it is a mental pressure-point and therefore the modified text: "Contact intended to cause feelings of physical pain" would be a better suited definition in the realm of the physical as opposed to mental and would correspond to the word "physical" in the title "Physical Abuse".

Be reasonable[edit]

Stop throwing everything you've seen on TV-shows in this article! Physical abuse is NOT the same as assault, sexual abuse, murder or battery. Also, adding controvercial items, like spanking or whipping, is no good for an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is not a place to prove a theory or promote your views. Definition of physical abuse[edit]

The definition of physical abuse used in the article was a bit overly broad. The old definition used in the opening sentence of the intro defined physical abuse: "any intentional act causing injury or trauma to another person by way of bodily contact." which was way to broad. Such a definition would or could encompass a number of congenital violent acts that would either not normally be defined as physical abuse or where much debate exists as to whether the term applies. Some examples of this include S&M, professional boxing, bare-knuckle boxing, American football, and professional martial arts competitions, As such, I tried ti improve the intro as best i could to more narrower and to mention current areas of debate. We really should include more in the body of the article on the debate over practices like S&M, contact sports, and corporal punishment,, and to what degree if any these constitute a form off physical abuse. --Notcharliechaplin (talk) 02:31, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted. I've twice reverted your edits because a lot of what you added is unsourced, editorializing and POV-pushing. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 03:56, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
