General[edit]

Notice: A General is not the same thing as an admiral. A General is responsible for the movement of troops and armored equipment. An Admiral is responsible for the movement of ships and any equipment that can be launched or recovered off of them. I am not mad, but I scincerly request that the actual service the indivduals are a part of to be mentioned. For example, Jemitov Hyman is a Commodore in the navy, he was not in the army.

  • One, calm down. Two, a general and an admiral are functionally equivalent, so in a sense they are the same thing. Lastly, I think what you are trying to say is that we need to agree what rank they hold. Official publications have it that Jemitov Hyman is a Commodore, so that is a misprint, but in the future could you maybe find someplace else to vent?

Help[edit]

I'm working to organize the Universal Century I started with a template based of the one in the Cosmic Era section. I'm hopieng you guys and gals could help.

Update[edit]

I reorganized the templates for all the alternate timelines. There are now three templates:

  • Universal Century
  • Cosmic Era
  • Gundam Alternate Timelines.

All articles pertaining to Gundam should include one of these templates. The old template Gundam series is obsolete, incomplete, and I'm removing it and updating the pages.

I'm also reorganizing the categories, but I'm not finished yet. Ideally all the articles should be part of one single category, which in turn is member of a broader one. For example, a page about a character should be part of a category about characters of that timeline, and the category ONLY should be member of the category about the timeline. In this way readers can navigate to the page by means of categories/subcategories.

There are a lot of "orphan" pages, pages that do not belong to the most logical categories, and they are difficult to find. If you do find those, please include them in the proper category.

A tentative recategorization goes as follows:

  • Gundam Universes
    • Universal Century
      • Universal Century Mobile Units
    • After War
    • Cosmic Era
      • Cosmic Era characters
      • Cosmic Era Mobile Units
    • After Colony
    • Future Century

Any help is welcome. --IgorTrieste 08:27, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Age of the Warring Space States[edit]

This is a bit of a clarification on the wonderful timeline category that is on every UC Gundam page. However, I do see a change. I believe, for the sake of accuracy, that the Crossbone Vanguard/Jupiter Empire and Zanscare Empire links should be merged under a new link called the Age of the Warring Space States. This is the commonly referred to by Japanese fans as the post-UC100 era, as a series of brushfire wars sprang up as the Federation entered into it's decline. The Japanese name, Uchu Sengoku Jidai, is actually a play on words of the Sengoku period in Japanese history.--YoungFreud 08:12, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ok, I will do this change, though I never saw the series, so I'm not really capable of writing a history page about these events. I do have the series, but no time to watch it. --IgorTrieste 10:03, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The Era of Space[edit]

I've seen Seiki translated as Century before, so it seems the note about 'era of space' is unneeded- although someone with more japanese knowledge would be better suited to make that choice --69.247.164.232 03:42, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AD Continuity[edit]

The statement "Since the mid-1990s, new official Universal Century chronologies have avoided the inclusion of AD dates before UC 0001." is not true. I was given a fairly large book as part of admission to the official Gundam Museum in Tokyo that included a comprehensive Gundam timeline beginning with the dawn of rockets through I believe the 0150s UC. Since it is official and handed out at the Gundam Museum (which purports itself to be a museum of the history of mobile suits and MS war existing in the post V Gundam era), I'm willing to guess that it is considered canon. 209.248.160.82 14:19, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The book Gundam Officials also includes the AD timeline in front, it is only the year of changing to UC was taken out in the 90's, all other major stuff in the AD timeline were remained canon. MythSearchertalk 16:03, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

All of this is in-universe material without sources denoting WP:N.じんない 18:08, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge. Although I highly support the technology article should stay for it is notable with sources, the location article is an article I have always wondered if it should. Although separate notable in-universe locations should go to their own series main articles, not this one. MythSearchertalk 19:26, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I looked at the tech article and that one seemed to attempt real-world notability which is why i didn't flag that one. This one doesn't and it doesn't look like much was done since the in-universe tag was put on it to show real-world importance.じんない 20:31, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I am thinking about moving that one back to Universal Century technology and drop the lengthy in-universe list. I guess such action is a little too aggressive right after the AfD and deletion review to save the article. MythSearchertalk 07:16, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What merge? The list of locations? There's no explaination on what's being discussed. 76.66.201.179 (talk) 14:20, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We are talking about this article. You can see the link in the article page of this talk page. MythSearchertalk 17:08, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion on top only talks about a technology article, not the locations article, though... 76.66.201.179 (talk) 05:21, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We are talking about the technology article being notable to stay on its own but not the location article, and thus we agreed on merging the location article with this one, but the technology article will stay as it is. MythSearchertalk 07:52, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the technology one seems fine, but the location one did not and no work showing real-world importance has been done, and I really cannot see at this point anything to make it notable. The reliable sources would have to talk about the locations primarily in a context of either reviewing the location, showing how it had real-world impact or was based upon a real-life or other fictional location outside the company's franchise.じんない 21:43, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So, everyone agreed on the merge? It seems like quite some time has passed and no one disagreed. Maybe bring it to the Gundam workgroup would be also a good idea. MythSearchertalk 16:06, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Bring it up and give them a chance to respond considering the probability if we don't it will likely be contested.じんない 00:46, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'll agree to the merge only because this information can also be found on the Gundam Wiki and this will make it less stressful for me to deal with which I admit that though they're well intentioned some of Wikipedias rules are also flawed. -67.171.250.39 (talk) 20:42, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It might help if you read Help:Merging. I am not going to place the merge templates into the articles for you. 97.115.129.240 (talk) 03:28, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
