Category formerly named Category:Soup which was listed for renaming on March 19, 2005. The following is a closed discussion from CFD and should not be modified.
Oppose In British English at least "soups" would only be appropriate for specific types of soup, but soup is suitable for all articles in any way related to soup. Wincoote 11:12, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Is soup is an uncountable noun in BE (like water or sand)? --A D Monroe III 13:30, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Let me ask the question a different way: are you saying that the following sentence would be correct in British English? "Bean soup and potato soup are my two favourite soup." The BBC and Guardian use "soups"[1][2]. – Quadell(talk) (sleuth) 13:57, Mar 19, 2005 (UTC)
No. I don't suppose it matters that much. It's not blatantly in American English like say category:Swedish sports, which means something like, "Sports invented in Sweden" in British English. Wincoote 14:04, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Rename for consisntency, as per Zzyzzx. Radiant_* 15:05, Mar 19, 2005 (UTC)
Comment: A lot of the articles in this category are just recipes, and should go to Wikibooks:Cookbook. I'll go through and add Template:Recipe moving to these articles, in preparation for moving them. Would the category still be worth keeping around if it only had, say, six or eight entries? FreplySpang 18:07, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Keep Keep titles singular! No soup for you! Yes, move recipes to wikibooks. Yes, keep the cat with 6 entries. MadreBurro 17:54, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)
