NPOV[edit]

d. This article both claims the show as both notoriously funny and desperately cruel: neither are neutral remarks. user:it's-is-not-a-genitive

Hardly worth slapping an NPOV notice on it, I think. I've cleaned it up a bit now, anyway. sjorford →•← 10:36, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Portillo[edit]

Mayall used Michael Portillo as his inspiration for his portrayal of B'Stard. This was stated by an MP (who claimed Mayall had told him this) whose name I forget on a programme called something like The Best 25(?) Political Comedies joint hosted by Charles Kennedy and Michael Howard in January 2007.

Obviously, since my recall is sketchy I can't add this to the article. But if someone can remember more perhaps we can piece the facts together. --bodnotbod 13:43, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That may be true; but may as much be based on the fact that Portillo also gave Marks and Gran a tour round Westminster - there's a newspaper article where he's interviewed about it. (I found this doing a PhD on political comedy - I can find the reference if anyone is that bothered...) Matt c (talk) 13:04, 20 July 2012 (UTC) MattC[reply]

Added a link to the Steve Nallon article which wasn't there, and changed the name to Steve rather than Stephen - GaryA

I just heard someone say that the inspiration was Vivian Bendall but I have absolutely nothing to back it up 86.53.51.180 (talk) 10:06, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
