I have seen his birthdate as September 5, but the Nobel Prize autobiography (see link) claims it is September 6. I decided to stick with his own autobiographical information, since he probably knows it best. Sayeth 22:00, Oct 18, 2004 (UTC)

Yeah, but the Nobel prize autobiography also lists his Ph.D. as being awarded in 1978 when it was awarded in 1968, so the birthday might be wrong too. Amulekii 00:08, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November 17, 2006 CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (AP) -- The Nobel-winning founder of a neuroscience center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is resigning as its director after a school investigation concluded he inappropriately discouraged another scientist from accepting a job at MIT.

Reference #2 (a report from the MIT committee that investigated Tonegawa's behaviour as mentioned above) has been taken off of the web while the committee incorporates comments that it has received regarding the report. Subsequently, the link to this reference is broken and the document is now unavailable to the public.
