Dates? (birth, first role)[edit]

His birth date differs between the article and the bio at screenonline. We say it was 1906, they say 1901. They also say his stage debut was in 1917, which would make him 11 by our date, but 16 by theirs. We don't state the year of his stage debut, but we do state he was 11. I haven't looked at the other two listed sources yet. Someone more knowledgable about this should look into it. JesseW 01:31, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The IMdb source claim 1906 for his birth. They also have as his first role in 1921, not 1917. JesseW 01:37, 28 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Some of us at the [Powell & Pressburger Appreciation Society] (Roger Livesey did his best film work with P&P) are working on a [biography]. We're still just collecting information so far but the 1906 date looks fairly certain - short of seeing his birth certificate. SteveCrook 14:38, Feb 28, 2005 (UTC)

I just checked the Birth Index which shows his birth was registered in Cardiff in 1906. Crisso (talk) 21:00, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

Is it worth having the new picture of him talking to George VI? Its quite low quality, he's in the background and you can't tell that its him. Jihg 15:25, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is quite bad -- SteveCrook 16:19, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

School attended[edit]

The link in the text takes you to the site for the posh and ancient Westminster School. Roger Livesey was educated at the Westminster City School, a neighboring institution that attracted boys from less affluent backgrounds. He was enrolled there in April, 1916. His cousins/step brothers Jack and Barrie also went to school there. There is a site for the WCS, you just have to change the link. Margaretmeyers 22:41, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article lead[edit]

Thank you SteveCrook for pointing out the note that I missed, and restoring "nationality = British" to the infobox. However, the first sentence has "Welsh". I know these matters can be contentious, and have no strong views on the matter, and no particular opinion in this instance. Edwardx (talk) 17:33, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, as the Note says: NOTE: Roger Livesey didn't regard himself as particularly Welsh or English, just British. So if anything, that should be changed from 'Welsh stage and film actor' to 'British stage and film actor'. -- SteveCrook (talk) 10:19, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again, SteveCrook. I have been bold, and edited the lead accordingly. Edwardx (talk) 09:46, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Parents[edit]

I understood it was illegal for a widow to marry her brother-in-law until 1921, yet the article says Livesey's mother and uncle married in 1913. What have I missed? 2A02:8084:24:AA00:D4C8:DA9E:1E20:5F21 (talk) 11:43, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
