(Singular/plural)[edit]

Two items that are more relevant to Blue balls than Blue Ball have been removed to Talk:Blue balls from here. --Jerzy(t) 21:12, 2004 Mar 16 (UTC)

(Heraldry)[edit]

I really question saying that the blue ball is a heraldic charge, as it is never so described in heraldry, always as a roundel azure or hurt. --Daniel C. Boyer 18:29, 16 Mar 2004 (UTC)

  • Six years later, no response, no source, no article Blue ball (heraldry), no mention at Heraldry. Most importantly, no mention in the same article with "heraldry", and within the main namespace, only on the accompanying Dab.
It's doubtful that the following is true:
In medieval heraldry, the blue ball ("bezant or roundel azure") was the heraldic charge of the house of (identification needed). Like many heraldic charges, it passed first to inn signs (pubs called the "Blue Ball" are found all over England) and then eventually to placenames.
But the crucial point is that that does not appear in an article, but on a Dab, and Dabs are neither info respositories, nor navigation tools to anything but info on a topic in sufficient quantity to justify those seeking it doing so in a 'pedia.
Removed; see MoSDab if confused.

Snooker[edit]

Removed

*See Snooker for info on the blue ball used in the game of snooker.

The blue ball is implicitly mentioned there, but no info beyond point value and order to play it. There's not much more at Snooker_rules#The_balls. IMO anyone who wants to add

* Blue ball, one of the colour balls specified by the rules of snooker

to the accompanying Dab should first state one or more scenarios where a user not only

has reason to believe they would do better by looking for "Blue ball" in WP than
searching for WP pages combining "snooker" with "balls", or with "rules", and than
looking for a snooker rule book off WP, but also
gets to that info.

If there's a consensus that that prospect outweighs the cluttering affect of the entry, then we should have one like it. I'm not placing one bcz that sounds far-fetched to me.

* Blue Ball, Scott County, Arkansas
* Blue Ball, Yell County, Arkansas
* Blue Ball, Warren County, Ohio

None of these has an article at present. See DABRL.
