I thought sonique i believe .7 or so was the greatest. With an interface that you could interact with and the lack of generic windows. I think I heard of it from ZDtv. Ha. That is partially correct, since the use of the "audioEnlightenment MP3 decoding engine" Soinque was dead for me, it was more CPU consuming that WinAmp 2, The Stardust Engine was fast with low CPU usage... The last good one was Sonique 1.30, from 1.50 the CPU hungry audioenlightment was used and I left Sonique in favor of WinAmp... made by aliens

I saw someone wrote made by aliens after Media Science and then someone reverted. I don't really remember this perfectly but AFAIK Media Science had that as a slogan. Harteex 00:41, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

We used the "Made by aliens" tag line as a "in-joke" because many of the dev team were actually foreign (to america) so the "aliens" tied in.

windowless???

"windowless"? it doesn't look windowless to me. maybe it doesn't have your generic Windows XP title bar and so on, but those are still windows, aren't they? A windowless program would surely be something commandline, or a background service - lovechild 15:05, 6th March 2006 (BST)

Sonique MP3 was dead?!?!

If Sonique had been a physical product I would have drenched it in lighter fluid and burned it. I always assumed that it stopped because the developers got back on their meds. I have never before, and probably never will again, experience the same degree of immediate, visceral revulsion to any software package that I felt with Sonique.

Aside from its horrible instability dealing with routine, everday tasks, it was a huge eyesore. I absolutely hated its "anything goes" free-form interface. A music player is meant to be heard, not seen. I don't want some gigantic, blinking, throbbing, amorphous blob taking up 25% of my screen just so I can listen to music.

I especially don't want to have to deal with a multitude of nested, sliding, whirring panels in order to configure its basic options. What the hell is wrong with standard Windows UI elements? You don't configure your player every single day, there is no need to spend hours designing a "cool" interface just so you can set file associations and the like.

It's really too bad that Nullsoft took a hint from Sonique and implemented their own version of free-form skins. Or, maybe not. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. It's possible that with Winamp offering everything Sonique could, as well as its more functional, classic style, Sonique had no reason to exist. Good riddance. Was dead when they changed to the audioEnlightenment MP3 decoding engine and stopped using the old and reliable Stardust. audioEnlightenment caused crashes a lot and I ended using Winamp and then I started using Zune(thanks to WP7), the Stardust MP3 decoding engine was fast and light, I even compared CPU usage, it beat Winamp because it was light... I couldn't go back to 0.7 (I think this version was the last one with Stardust) but I couldn't find it anywhere.--FaustoLG (talk) 06:46, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Mamasutra sample "a capella"?

Summary is wrong

Given that I am Tony Million - Al-riaz and myself were never "hired", I merged my company with Media Science in an all stock transaction and was never an official employee until after the purchase by Lycos.
