Flash[edit]

I don't think Flash really qualifies as a vector graphics editor, at least not in the same sense as Illustrator or Freehand. Unless someone objects, I'm going to remove it from the list. madoka 22:52, Oct 25, 2004 (UTC)

Flash is a more sophisticated vector graphic editor than most on that list because it includes bitmap-style editing features in a vector graphic format. It can also import and export to the popular vector graphic programs in vector format. As a professional designer and a design instructor I have to say this sentence:"Modern vector editors are capable of, and often preferable for, designing unique documents (like flyers or brochures) of up to a few pages; it's only for longer or more standardized documents that the page layout programs are more suitable." is not correct. It is true that vector editors can make single page documents and a few (including illustrator CS4) can make multipage documents, but I would not use the word preferable. I suggest this replacement: "Vector editors are capable of creating standalone graphics, graphics to be used in page layout or web design programs, and single page designs. Newer vector editors have added multipage support, though they have not traditionally been used for that purpose." Comment Regarding Fireworks[edit]

Although Adobe isn't planning to update Fireworks beyond CS6, Fireworks is a dual purpose editor that handles both bitmaps and vector graphics. State of this article[edit]

I came here trying to figure out what a vector graphics editor is and still had no idea. After doing some more searching on the internet I came back here and made a small edit to the wiki so it at least is slightly better than it was but this page needs a complete rewrite. Someone who knows nothing about the topic should at least be able to answer the questions like what is vector graphics editor and how is it different than a bitmap editor after reading this entry.
