I am a full time student at Eastern Kentucky University, a Computer Science major with an emphasis in Technology. Formerly I attended Clemson University where also studied Computer Science. At Clemson, I struggled with the required Mathematics courses in that program, primarily Calculus, and eventually left the school when I couldn't maintain the academic requirements for financial aid. After taking five years off, I enrolled at Eastern Kentucky and have maintained a 4.0 GPA (including Calculus!)
In 2001, I married the little girl I met at summer camp when we were both in the fourth grade. We live together in Lexington, Kentucky. She teaches Middle school in a nearby town, and I commute 50 miles to my University.
Mescad (IPA pronunciation: [mɛzkæd]) is a nickname, or pseudonym for this user (who prefers to keep his real name private.) In 1991, Epic Comics released a trade paperback of Alien Legion comics, titled Slaughterworld. The comics feature a character named Skathe Mescad. In 1993, when signing up for a TradeWars 2002 game on a local BBS, Mescad was asked to choose a handle. He flipped through his copy of Slaughterworld and chose the last name of this character. Since that day, Mescad has regularly used the name online and will only use another name if "Mescad" is unavailable.
Richard Proenneke - After watching Alone in the Wilderness I became facinated with his life in Alaska. The film shows how he single-handedly built a log cabin using only hand tools. He then proceeded to live there for about 30 more years, alone.
