I just cited the source. He is named French there probably because he lived in France at the moment of the award. In general, Soviet sources, such as Great Soviet Encyclopedia, call him "French painter of the Spanish origin". Cmapm 17:21, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Source[edit]

What is the source of the list of recipients in this article? It differs considerably from the list in the German Wikipedia. I checked the Wielka Encyklopedia Powszechna PWN and it also gives a different list. Kpalion 17:54, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Others who also recieved the prize but not on this list[edit]

(not a complete list) * Ahmed Sékou Touré, President of Guinea was also a recipient of the prize

~~Bram Fischer, South African Communist Party leader, was awarded one in 1967 while he was in prison~~

According to French and German wikipedia the following names are missing from the English article until 1956.

Pierre Cot (1953)
Alain Le Léap (1954)
Latin America Baldomero Sanincano (1954)
Prijono (1954)

All the other names, until 1956, match. From other sources I can confirm that Pierre Cot received the prize.

Sam Nujoma[edit]

While 2006 International Who's Who says he had got the Prize in 1973 and the Joliot-Curie Golden Medal of Peace in 1980, I failed to find any mentioning of him being awarded any of these prizes in Soviet sources. Maybe these decisions were secret in that time? As such, I'm temporarily removing his name from the article until more information on this is available, i.e. all the circumstances are clear. Why did the Lenin Peace Prize end?[edit]

Although the Soviet Union dissolved in the early 90s, I think a note of exactly what happened to the prize must also be included here.

Edhi was not a recipient[edit]

Is there any place one might be able to find an authoritative list of Lenin Peace Prize recipients? Am pretty sure that Abdul Sattar Edhi was never a recipient of the prize. Hulleye (talk) 22:15, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

COI: I am related to John Morgan.

John Morgan is listed as the award winner 1980-1982 but there is no biography page for him. I created one at User:Fuzziehollis/Rev. John Hanly Morgan. I would appreciate the assistance of a neutral third party to publish this article.

A list in a soviet tertiary source[edit]

I've found a soviet tertiary source with the list: Советская историческая энциклопедия (Sovetskaja istoričeskaja ènciklopedija, soviet historic encyclopedia).

An online version of the entry in this book for МЕЖДУНАРОДНЫЕ ЛЕНИНСКИЕ ПРЕМИИ "ЗА УКРЕПЛЕНИЕ МИРА МЕЖДУ НАРОДАМИ" (MEŽDUNARODNYE LENINSKIE PREMII "ZA UKREPLENIE MIRA MEŽDU NARODAMI") exists here.

Mandela note: released in 1990, not 2002[edit]

In the note for Mandela it indicates he could not accept the prize until 2002 because he was in jail. He was released on February 11, 1990. Whether his release had anything to do with the award isn’t clear, and he had other things to do after 27 years in jail on a terrorism conviction, but the note is clearly wrong.
