Comment[edit]

Interesting since when Svans became ethnographic group of the Georgians? Svanetian language is different and separate language. Where is NPOV?--81.7.98.250 08:31, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The answer is quite simple, since the Svans themselves started to consider themselves to be Georgian. Shall we say couple of milennia ago or so?

I am Svan and I can tell you, it's similar to Georgian. It's similar in some ways but it sounds way more harsh. There are some words that don't have a translation in Svan, so we say it in Georgian but remove the end sounds of that word. Gio31188 (talk) 09:45, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Errors[edit]

  • 1.

Svanetia extends over the upper valleys of the Rioni, Enguri and Tskhenistskali...

: valley of the Rioni is Racha region, not Svaneti
  • 2.

Historical Svanetia also included the Kodori Gorge in the adjoining rebel province of Abkhazia, and part of the adjacent river valleys of Kuban and Baksan of Russia.

    :
2.1 Svans нave lodged in upper valleys of the Kodory only in the beginning of XX century. Up to еviction in XIX century there lived Abkhaz People.
2.2 It is disputable. The upper valleys of Kuban and Baksan it is the native land of turkic Karachay and Malkar People.
