earlier conversations[edit]

I live in new zealand and, using my amazing powers of perception, have noticed that the beaches on the west coast are constantly rougher than those on the east. I was simply wondering: Why? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.109.254.58 (talkcontribs) 00:36, 27 December 2002 (UTC)[reply]

Different currents causing different surfaces to be laid down? Storms more prvalent on one side or the other? Someone somewhere is bound to know... - Lee M 02:33, 5 Oct 2003 (UTC)
  • That satellite picture is really bad. Is there not a less cloudy picture of the Tasman Sea in existence somewhere in the world which can be used? (apologies if this message sounds angry) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.67.91.118 (talkcontribs) 09:42, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a better picture http://img130.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tasmansea2wj.jpg, but I don't know how to replace the image, so someone else will have to do that. (apologies if this message sounds angry!) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Skaterdude182 (talkcontribs) 00:06, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And here's a road map http://img158.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tasmansea0pd.jpg, and I don't know how to put this image on the page either, so someone else will have to do this to. I don't know about copyright for this image, I found the original on Google Images. (apologies if this sounds angry too!) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Skaterdude182 (talkcontribs) 00:11, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

opps[edit]

i tried to add the image but it didn't work UH OH! Luckily it's back to normal! I just didn't get why I was wrong-do you do something different to HTML in wikipedia? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Purples the best (talkcontribs) 10:04, 14 August 2006 (UTC).[reply]

It is a bit different; see Wikipedia:Images for an overview. I think there would be copyright issues surrounding the image you wanted to add. -- Avenue 11:36, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Andrew McAuley[edit]

I think that he deserves to be linked on this page. He may not have mde it but he is qutie famous for losing his life trying to cross. Therefore i have added it to the "see also" section. 77.97.170.138 (talk) 16:26, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He's only tangentially related to the actual sea. Just because he happened to disappear there, it doesn't mean that he deserves a mention in the see also section. The other items there are far more relevant. Graham87 00:47, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Maori name[edit]

Anyone able to add the Maori name for the Tasman Sea? Skinsmoke (talk) 05:05, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done. --Avenue (talk) 13:14, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Boundaries and Norfolk Island[edit]

Based on the specific official boundary quoted in detail, Norfolk Island does not lie within or on the boundary of the Tasman Sea.Eregli bob (talk) 14:20, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
