Question[edit]

Were all 8,000 martyrs canonized? Or just some of them -- and if the latter, can we get a complete list? -- Visviva 23:59, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I question if there were thousands. Why wouldn't all documented Korean martyrs have been canonized, rather than only 103? And definitely it was only 103 who are canonized. Carl.bunderson (talk) 17:52, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I spoke too soon. My copy of Butler's says that "Of the many thousand [martyrs] -- perhaps more than 8,000 not counting those who died of cold or starvation as they fled the tortures of the persecutors -- 103 were chosen by name as representatives of the rest." The list of the 103s' names must exist, though I'm not sure where. Carl.bunderson (talk) 18:21, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
