Roots-type superchargerRoots blower – Incorrect name. Supercharging is only one application. This was moved years ago and any reasons for that were perhaps more obvious at the time. But it should also have been fixed years ago.

Roots blower would be favoured over Roots-type blower, per COMMONNAME.

BTW, 'Rootes' is just wrong, even though the name has gone through that at one time. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:02, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nom, although "Roots-type" would also be acceptable, as not every Roots blower is manufactured by the Roots Blower Company. However, we have Edison screw, Fowler flap, Weston cell, etc, so the genericized trademark is probably OK here. Incidentally, I don't think there was ever any connection between Roots blowers and the Rootes Group, although it's a common confusion. Tevildo (talk) 15:12, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
