Both[edit]

Both arthritis and asthma (and a couple others I'm sure) are on this list. Are they not common diseases?--Lucky13pjn 00:25, 2 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

It says many of which are rare, not all of them.

Aging[edit]

Is aging considered a disease? Vancho 18:31, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aging is not a disease, as disease is characterized by something such as toxins, bacteria or viruses causing symptoms. I think aging would fall under syndrome. Renaissancee (talk) 16:36, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

PLEASE REMEMBER![edit]

Please remember that this page is for DISEASES ONLY. Do not add syndromes or disorders unless they fit under the disease definition. Renaissancee (talk) 16:36, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alcoholism (controversial)[edit]

H-95.983 Drug Dependencies as Diseases The AMA 1. endorses the proposition that drug dependencies, including alcoholism, are diseases and that their treatment is a legitimate part of medical practice, and 2. encourages physicians, other health professionals, medical and other health related organizations, and government and other policymakers to become more well informed about drug dependencies, and to base their policies and activities on the recognition that drug dependencies are, in fact, diseases.
