Jack Black's portrayal of the character in the movie Nacho Libre has faced criticism for perpetuating racial stereotypes and engaging in cultural appropriation. The use of brown face, where a non-Latinx actor darkens his skin to portray a Mexican character, is highly problematic and offensive. It reinforces harmful stereotypes and fails to acknowledge the importance of authentic representation.
