Untitled[edit]

Corneille the quebecer singer is not born in rwanda. He was born in Fribourg, Germany from rwandese parents. He also said he was born in Germany on radio show "Les Grandes Gueules" on the "Reseau Energie". The reason for the confusion is probably because his parents returned to rwanda shortly after he was born.

The result of the move request was: moved to Corneille (name) and base name redirected to Pierre Corneille. -- JHunterJ (talk) 20:26, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

CorneilleCorneille (disambiguation) – In the same manner that Schiller redirects to Friedrich Schiller, Ibsen redirects to Henrik Ibsen, Strindberg redirects to August Strindberg and Coleridge redirects to Samuel Taylor Coleridge, so should Corneille redirect to Pierre Corneille. A giant of French literature, he is head and shoulders above any other use of the name.     Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 20:46, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, except that the current page is really an anthroponomy article, so it should be moved to Corneille (name). — Gorthian (talk) 22:36, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Although the four examples presented above all use Schiller (disambiguation), Ibsen (disambiguation), Strindberg (disambiguation) and Coleridge (disambiguation), with separate entries for Schiller (surname), Ibsen (family) and Coleridge (surname), "Corneille" is also a given name, thus indicating that in this case Corneille (name) may, indeed, be the more appropriate form.    Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 02:19, 2 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I didn’t go looking for other articles that might be included; I was responding to the page as it is right now, which is a list of people with the name. — Gorthian (talk) 04:04, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Clear primary, though an ngram to confirm this would have been good. Johnbod (talk) 15:53, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Corneille is nowhere near as well-known in the English-speaking world as the other examples given. I honestly don't think he's well-known enough for a primary redirect. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:14, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
He is, because the alternatives are so obscure - see this ngram, which covers the whole disam page. Note only 2 (including him) have it as a surname, plus the singer as a single stage name. Most of the time he is over twice all the others put together. Johnbod (talk) 14:21, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
