Gangsan Mountain[edit]

The criticism section mentions "Gangsan Mountain." I looked this up and it seems to be the Korean word for "mountains", "mountains and rivers", or "landscape." There does not seem to be a specific Gangsan Mountain. PopSci (talk) 15:48, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

simple footnote error[edit]

I'm not good enough with HTML to fix this so I'll just inform you for whoever is qualified. There's a footnote (#15 currently) that says
Urquhart, Conal (2 September 2013). "Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Moonies, dies in South Korea"
but the correct date is 3 Sep 2012. Wow, a dyslexic Wikipedian strikes.

Sure, that seems monumentally trivial, but [despite some unchecked propagandistic contributors] I like to consider Wiki to be encyclopedic so this correction seemed appropriate.2600:6C56:6600:1EA7:694D:FA90:265A:6C39 (talk) 13:17, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That is probably because it was September 3 in Korea and September 4 in the United States (or the UK.) PopSci (talk) 11:21, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No, when it was 9/3/12 in Korea, it was 9/2/12 in America. Remember, the time of day in the Eastern Hemisphere is ahead of time in the Western. Smallfixer (talk) 19:58, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ummm, the year, boss, the YEAR :) Not the day.2600:6C56:6600:1ECF:7C6A:B0CB:CBBA:FDF2 (talk) 08:54, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

One more time, folks: the footnote YEAR is wrong. I take no stance on the DAY. I'm poor with HTML but isn't this simple for someone else to fix?2600:6C56:6600:1ECF:E44E:AD96:FAAE:566A (talk) 05:45, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello? Can anyone see or hear this?? The footnote has a date of September 2013, and a retrieval date of June 2013, for an event of September 2012. Can no one see that there is "something wrong with this picture"? Was that not clear? Hello? I would fix the stupid error myself but footnotes can be tricky2600:6C56:6600:1ECF:1078:10AD:7899:589D (talk) 14:09, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rev. Moon's Birthdate[edit]

Because of revisions, currently Rev. Moon's birthdate is shown as a lunar-calendar date while the date of his death is shown by the solar calendar. This article originally showed his correct solar-calendar birthdate of February 25, 1920. The lunar-calendar January 6 always falls between late January and late February on the solar calendar. In 1920, the lunar New Year fell on 2/20/20 by the solar calendar. Five days later is January 6 by the lunar calendar and, naturally, February 25 by the solar. Someone in charge should decide if this article wants to be consistent about Rev. Moon's vital dates and show them both as solar dates or lunar ones, which would probably put the date of his death in late July or early August. Smallfixer (talk) 20:27, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

1. WP:BOLD (you're in charge!), 2. the Western Calendar (or Gregorian) doesn't have any lunar dates, therefore January 6 cannot be correct, although a Korean counterpart might have such lunar dates. Go for February 25, 1920! Rursus dixit. (mbork3!) 14:34, 9 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

mention of Joe Biden[edit]

The controversy section talks about a relationship between Moon's family and Biden's. This is sourced to one magazine article. Is this enough to make this statement? Considering WP's living persons policies, and also the fact that Biden is running for president right now. SpecInterest (talk) 21:29, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That seems to have been one of the major points of the source. On the other hand it was only one article, probably written in a few days. Not really a scholarly source.PopSci (talk) 12:47, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I will remove the material which is sourced to that source alone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:640:C:9F98:ED3C:F7C1:FC94:74BD (talk) 02:10, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe just take out the part about Biden's son. It is not really all that relevant to this article. Anyway I think it was Moon's former son-in-law. PopSci (talk) 02:21, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I made a small change in that direction.PopSci (talk) 19:06, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sources in Foreign Language[edit]

I noticed cited sources that are in foreign language(such as Korean). It is difficult to confirm the validity of these sources. I recommend to find sources in English or remove them. How are foreign sources handled usually? Trukoh (talk) 06:23, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
